This is a excellent picture dairy of your built, the best of luck to you and glad to see you are doing alright, I too own an 1984 Camaro Z28 HO, with a 5 speed, still enjoy driving it.

Well, it's not a third gen but the 84 has a new friend!
2002 Z28 M6 with 17k miles, 100% documentation, and VERY well taken care of. It's a custom ordered car with multiple SLP options.
SLP subframes
SLP CAI
SLP Y-pipe
SLP Loudmouth (I put the original exhaust on. LM1 is WAY too loud. I have the LM2 on the 84 so I might pick up another one for the 02)
SLP Skip Shift
SLP Strut Brace
SLP LCA
SLP Shifter
SLP Auburn Differential
SLP SS Wheels
Lowering Springs
Kee Audio Speakers
Roof was painted under 'good will' for a bubbling issue with the paint. All V8s have a black roof while the V6s had theirs body painted. I've always like the V6 look better so, though this isn't original, I'm ok with it
[IMG][/IMG]
And my favorite picture. He calls it 'Dad's fast Carraro'
[IMG][/IMG]
And finally a picture of ALL the original parts to the car, and believe me when I say all.
[IMG][/IMG]
As far as the 84 goes: I'm still waiting on the carb to get back from SMI before anything else can happen.

I FINALLY took some leave and made the long drive to Texas. Once there I was able to take some time away from the family and work on the car a bit.
Here's my SMI reworked carb. The packaging was expertly done.
Great job on epoxying everything!

Re: 84 Z28 H.O. Man Diary
Note: this was a Stage 2 rebuild
I got tired of my rigged up factory oil dipsitck so I spent the $$ on a Lokar piece. They are very, very nice and they better be for the price. When it comes to installing make sure you disconnect the negative battery cable. I touched the starter with and and made a few smelly sparkss
The install was easy. I had to remove the large wires leading to the starter to make room but other than that = simple
And please oh please ignore the surface rust. I had to keep the Camaro outside during a snow/ice storm in December, and since I havn't been back at my folks' place to work on it, this is what I was left with.

Finally, I installed an R&M Specialties vertical wire loom separators. This are 1000x better than the Moroso ones I had but they are a pain the <insert word> to install. An hour later I was treated with these:

Re: 84 Z28 H.O. Man Diary
Note on the wire looms - this gave me a LOT more wires to work with.
Carb installed:
I didn't use the thick gasket that comes with quadrajets but instead used the gaskets and plate for the throttle/tranny setup.
So how's the new carb? That's a great question! I wish I knew myself. I didn't have to give it a try. Soooooo there she sits until Christmas time....

Re: 84 Z28 H.O. Man Diary
I want to say it was about $260 including shipping for the stage 2 rebuild. From SMI's reputation on the internet and from serious racers that use the quadrajet I have nothing but high hopes.

I've had to do the unthinkable. We have another little one on the way so I have to make some room and free up some funds for the new addition to the family.
I'm selling both this 84 and my Harley VRod. Bigger family = bigger responsibilities.

Congrats on the coming addition!
Sorry you have to sell the car and the bike, but it is refreshing to see someone who has their priorities straight. There will be plenty of time for toys, take care of family first.

Re: 84 Z28 H.O. Man Diary
Whelp - the car bug has bitten me again (thanks alot, Roadkill!!) so a friendly order to Summit has been placed.
New Oil/filter and spark plugs have been ordered since the plugs in it now are black from it being so darn rich
Having a local shop cut custom MSD wires for me, set the ignition properly, recheck the valve lash, and do general stuff just to make the car run reliably.
My father is going to replace the seats with my 4th gen set as well as replace the front seat belts for me (I'm stationed away from where the car is).
I'm still undecided on what hood I should buy: AMD hood, that will be functional, or the much lighter and nicer looking, yet more expensive, Cervini hood. Any thoughts?
Hopefully in a couple of months I will have her running again in at least a workable order.

Wow... just read this entire thing and it has truly inspired me to start on my 91 rs! Nice to see you have your priorities straight. Real nice to see this 84 with a new life ahead of it. And congrats on being selected, Lt! Maybe we will cross paths in the military and hopefully all this talk about reduction isnt affecting you and your family.
