Re: FRESH GM Performance White Paint From MACCO

Looks good in white. 3k at macco seem like ALOT. did they base/clear it? or single stage?
Why didnt you redo it in red? SO the engine bay still matched?
Cool it has 50k miles but looks like it lived a rough 50k mile life.

Re: FRESH GM Performance White Paint From MACCO

Looks like it turned out good, but the red engine bay kills it for me. I think I would have gone through the time to pull the engine before painting to make it look factory, but that's just me.

How is the actual paint, as far as orange peel and runs, etc?

$3k at Maaco is insane IMO. Looks decent though.

Re: FRESH GM Performance White Paint From MACCO

It can go either way. If i decide to restore it to original condition than yes, but i really wanna do a sweet motor swap and upgrade the suspension so without the stripes kinda adds to the sleekness

Re: FRESH GM Performance White Paint From MACCO

Can't wait to hear how it is in a year from now.

If you got it with no paint runs, no dirt/dust/bugs in a Maaco paint job, they at least did that part right. Question is now.....Will it stick or peel? Will it fade/oxidize or not? Being white, your pretty safe from the fade part.

I wasn't safe years ago with Maaco job.

Re: FRESH GM Performance White Paint From MACCO

i mean yea i saw a couple paint runs, there was some overspray from the black grill. So i did give it back a second time and they fixed everything for free. But the door jams i'd have to say came out pretty good. Yes people pay dirt money at MACCO but i bought their top of the line paint job and had them remove all the rust, dents, scratches, etc... so $3000 in my opinion is money well spent. I havent noticed oxidization yet but white gets dirty all the time...

Re: FRESH GM Performance White Paint From MACCO

I have a 91 and Macco painted it single stage black. I would prefer with the clear coat. There are some dust/dirt bumps. The only emblems/stripes is the front emblem. No RS. I got it that way from So. California. It looks very clean. Sorry no pics as of yet. New here!

Re: FRESH GM Performance White Paint From MACCO

Seems like for $3k they could have masked off the underside so your exhaust didn't turn white. Also can't really get over the non matching engine bay, but as long as you're happy with the job, that's what counts.

Damn, MAACO did that? Wow, they have a bad rep where I live! I think I may just have to give them a try. You picked the same color I'm going with except I'm going to use this reflective decal kit (in blue) from this website

You may find it helpful as well! Cheers and Congrats on a Great Looking Ride!

Maaco is just a chain name. Each location is independently owned, so the quality of a Maaco can vary from location to location. So HIS local Maaco might be good, while YOUR local Maaco can suck. I'd list to Maaco reviews in your area & go/not go there, or find a location with good reviews if you really want (need) the lower price of Maaco, and go to that location.

Right on Bro, Guess its a hit or miss...In my area they are known for horrible jobs but clearly from your ride its all based on what location you use!
