Re: 86 z28 restoration project

Well I took the day off from work today to get a good soild day of working on the camaro but it turned into half a day of working on the car. I had to fix my brothers wiring problem in his second mustang he just bought, dash lights werent working the fuse was blewing, what took him all day the day before only took me an hour to have it fixed and turns out one of the wires were metled under the seat. But enough of that lol on to the camaro. Since I couldt do much on the car since it was outside behind the shop I figure it would be a good time to install the trans am dash thats been hanging in my shed all winter. I trim back the top tabs to clear the dash but left the side parts on to were the lower dash bar from the factory dash bolts to Inplace just bent them inwards for now. I dont have the lower dash bar for the 4th gen dash just yet but I still went and bolted into place to see if i need to mod any more. All went well and the side tabs I bent inwards were very handy cause the lower corners of the dash had bolt holes which lined up with the bolt holes in the side tabs and I put some bolts in place the dash is pretty soild right across. Im still wanting to get the lower dash bar to make everything right and proper. Some Pics.

well I guess one dash pic for now still have the other ones on the Iphone.
second project this afternoon was mounting the drivers racing seat. I had them in the wifes cavailer last year and took them out after we sold the car. I ended up modifing the seat brackets from the cavalier to make the work in the car thats were the cut off wheel came in and very lil gas left in the welder.

of coures after cutting the legs off and cutting them to length bolted them in place to see how things look came the next challeng, how was I goin to weld them off the car. Well I left them in Place and did some tacs and man that that was not fun. I removed the bracket after and welded all the legs both sides. Sorry the welds are not the prettiest to be posted lol, than again it was running out of gas. Bolted the seat to the brackets and put them in the car.

Im very happy with the seat placment its not to high its not to low, well cant go any higher or youll be hitting the t-tops lol. Now the test of my welds, I sat in them and they seem pretty soild, than I had my brother sit in them hes a big boy 350+. All I gotta say this car is not fat ppl friendly I couldnt help but laugh watching my brother get in and out of the car which is guess if he folded the seat back it wouldnt be so bad. But the main thing is my welds passed with him in the seat.

oh one last pic I have a hood on the car now, its a temp hood till I can get the one I want for 100 bucks cant go wrong and brand spanking never hood vents.
