My 1985 IROC-Z/1995 hybrid!

Hey TGO, I'm new to the forum, so let me introduce myself and my car.

I go by Hans and I live in Wyoming. My car is a 1985 IROC-Z with a whole bunch of '95 parts swapped in. When I was a bit younger I used to work a lot on cars but those days have seemingly gone by and I bought this car with almost all the modifications you see on it made by the owner previous to who I bought it from. However, I think it's time for me to finish the interior and get some work done on her now that I have a bit more money and so I am very glad I found a support forum for such things.

I recently spent a good chunk of time in the Middle East and before I left was selling almost everything I had. I was extremely reluctant to sell my car (which I love but feel guilty much of the time because it sometimes seems like I don't have the expertise/funds needed to finish the modifications made to her). Anyway, I (obviously) ended up not selling the car, but I wrote up a list basically outlining the entire car in case I did sell her, so I'll post that below and then comment a bit on it:

Overview—1985 IROC-Z Camaro
Fastest ¼ mile time—12.21 seconds @ 115 mph (wearing MT drags)

Body
1985 IROC-Z Camaro
T-tops
New rear springs
4” cowl aftermarket hood
Corvette ZR1 rims

Engine
LT1 383 (swapped from a ’95)
Last dyno at 391hp/369ft/lbs
Rebuilt just under 6,000 miles ago
Eagle crank (forged)
Eagle I-beam rods (forged)
Thunder Racing 236/242 520/540 112 LSA cam
Ported lt1 heads
Ported lt4 intake
AF fuel pump
Comp pushrods
BBK 58mm twin throttle body
Vortec intake elbow

Exhaust
Mid-length Hooker headers
3in flow master exhaust

Transmission
T56 Transmission (six speed)
RAM clutch
Hurst shifter assembly
Hurst pistol grip

Drivetrain/Rear-end
10 bolt rear-end w/ 4:56 gears
All components swapped from a ’95 Camaro

Interior
Interior/Dash/Seats/Steering column from a ’95 Camaro
Power windows
Door panels remain from the 85 (unfinished)
Top dash panel missing (only unfinished parts of car—need restore)

- - -

Now, there is some discussion about the rear-end in the car... the previous owner was not the person who made the swap. He bought it because he liked the looks. What he told me was that the rear had 4:10 gears in it, but after I purchased the car from him my mechanic took it for a spin and said he suspected it had 4:56 gears in the rear. So, honestly, as embarrassing as it is, I'm not quite sure if it has 4:10's or 4:56.

Anyway, there are a few things which need finishing on the car, but mainly just the interior. The power window/door switches were also swapped from a 4th gen, as the owner was going to put in 4th gen door panels. In fact, I have those panels. But when I took it to a body shop, the guy said that that swap was impossible and I should just modify the 3rd gen door panels to fit the window switch assembly. Can anyone comment on this?

Also, the top-most part of the dash, which reaches to the windshield is bare. I also have a 4th gen dash part for that, and the guy told me I just need to cut it to fit and then install it as I would for a 4th gen, as the entire dash is from the '95. Comments?

Problems I need to address right now:

-the e-brake is not connected.
-the car has no bright-beams
-re-check everything in the engine (like I said, it's been sitting for quite a while, and since I've been back stateside I haven't had the time).

Things I want to fix soon:

-patch the (too large) hole in the firewall and in/around the shifting assembly (the noise from the engine in the cab is a bit much... =P)
-figure out what to do with the doors and dash
-install a decent audio system
-find a dash face that isn't totally corny (it currently has the 4th gen 'flame' one... XP )
-install an after-market steering wheel

So, I'd love to hear any thoughts, comments, criticisms, suggestions or otherwise from you guys. Especially suggestions/solutions for the problems/improvements I've listed...

Looks good. You can install 4th gen doors and clean up dash so it is completer. Just search and you will find a million threads

I don't like the interior but it looks pretty cool on the outside...

Sorry I know it's an old post but I have to say your car is beautiful on the outside (however I'm not big into cowl hoods) but that's an awesome color I agree with jchaussee I would install 4th gen door panels so everything would match up or find a 3rd gen dash to stick back in there (which is what I would do) but anyway it's a cool car

I like the outside, but I hate 4th gen interiors. They look bad enough in a 4th gen, but they make these cars look hideous IMO.
