Re: very odd 82 pace car..
I LOVE IT ..but the price is crazy !!!!
and i dont think they tampered anything ????!!!
For serious Chevrolet collectors. The only Camaro of this kind ever built! This car is 1 of 1! Not to be confused with other Indianapolis 500 replica pace cars. This Camaro was a joint venture between Chevrolet and Champcar, for the Champcar PPG Indycar Series. Built in 1982 and used throughout the 1980’s, for display purposes and part of the PPG Pace Car Team of vehicles to pace all of the Indycar races throughout the Championship season. Also, used for giving executive guests “hot-laps” around the circuit on race weekends. Complete steel custom hand made wide body, (pictures do no justice to the craftsmanship on this car) molded into the fenders and doors. The front bumper and fender are all one piece on this car! The Custom PPG Metallic paint. This car even has the original Goodyear Gatorback tires from 1982! One of a kind car with racing history. 450 Horsepower 350ci Chevrolet V8 with roller rockers and other modifications. $350,000 in cost of build, in 1982! Only 4,176 original miles! This car has either been in storage, or on display at a race event all of its life! Please feel free to call with questions. Pictures do this car no justice and there is too much information to list about this car.

Re: very odd 82 pace car..
As a REAL Pace Car, it certainly didn't have the weak-*** 305. That is is, and I'm 99.999% certain, that it is 100% original, to its original build specs back in 1982 (more like 1980/81).
But you can see the stuff that was being thought about back then, that went into production on the 4th gens (the nose & the rear wing).
In fact, there was already a thread about this car. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...eged-pace.html
I wonder how many new threads are going to be started about this car!

Re: very odd 82 pace car..
very possible most of the engine is original, but there is
a late style 1990up cs144 alternator,cheap taiwan
chrome, probably other details not really visable in the
pics....I'd think GM would have used something other
than a cheap taiwan air cleaner on a custom built
camaro of this magnitude

Re: very odd 82 pace car..
I really like the interior of this car (wouldnt mind having it in mine if it matched!) and I also like the paint color. Not a real big fan of the body work although it is very unique and I would still buy it either way!

Re: very odd 82 pace car..
IT IS 100% A PPG pace car, PPG is a custom car company.
And i bet they build it out of a 1982 camaro.....so, its a real 1982 PPG pace car !!!
I never said it was build by chevy or in 1982
here is an other one from PPG
