Re: My 1991 Z28 Project

Well it looks like the PO did something right, seeing as the car has new spindles, and brake pads... Also looking at the shocks they looked new, what do you guys think?

Re: My 1991 Z28 Project

Well here are some more pictures of the latest work. Interior is out, and painted black. Rear seats and door panels are off to be redone, old front seats are in the lil brothers tree house. Now I need to buy new black carpet, and some racing seats... any ideas?

The front speakers, i forgot to post this picture...

All of the pieces piled back into the car...

And the last time i saw her....

Re: My 1991 Z28 Project

ha that is funny johns camaro ended up in MT nice car
the trunk hold down was not the po's fault his wife slamed the trunk and brok the stock setup so we scrounged that setup out of A-1 to get it to stop banging around that and the under dash stuff was the guy he bought it from he basickly drove it and drifted it from time to time
the tow company is the ones to blame for the alighnment issues the idiot that drug it up on the truck screwed that up long story behind that but the car didnt break down good luck with the car looks like it went to some one that will take care of her

The alignment was horrible, and the things that held it there were all but rusted on haha. I am taking good care of her. I cant wait to get her back her in the springs so i can drive her. Wont be too long now

Re: My 1991 Z28 Project

Looks like my car is in good hands. The guy I sold it to must have done the under dash stuff because I never touched it. Umm Duff it wasn't Mary that slammed the hatch, it was the stupid babysitter. I took the car to my friends work to get it fixed and realized they didn't know crap about power hatches, and they made it worse. Alignment wasn't horrible when I had it but Colorado Springs roads will mess it up quick! The power mirrors and locks worked fine when I got the car but one day the fuse popped and I never did figure out the problem. Have fun with it though, and would love to catch a ride in it when your here in the Springs!

yeah pretty soon you wont know its the same car even... my only problem is I keep changing my mind about stuff haha... I already fixed the alignment and all the power locks, mirrors, etc. I just havent bought a new power hatch yet. I started a car club here on the academy, and we will be hosting car shows and other things... Head to the show in early october if you wanna see the car haha.

Re: My 1991 Z28 Project

I just bought my new black carpet, Black Leather Corbeau CR1 Racing seat for the drivers side and the bracket for it to fit. I wanted passenger side too, but they are so expensive I could only afford one as of right now. I will post pictures when they get to my house and my parents send me them.. Then pictures of install of course. What a great way to spend my paycheck haha..

The Seat:

What did you do with your old rims?!!? I want them!!!!! Yeah I hope they look good. I will be so fricken happy to get it in.. My interior is all just piled around in there. I am putting it all back in after repainting a couple things and then havin a shop look at it to make sure everything motor and tranny wise is sounding good. Then on the 7th of June im taking it back to Denver to wait for me to get back from hawaii and drive it back to the academy... Thank god it will be closer then and I wont have to worry about it. Ill be able to buy more stuff and install it too! I decided since i am going all the way that the passenger seat is going to be heat for the girl friend. yall know how chicks always seem to be cold... I guess it tends to happen when its only 65 and you have the t-tops off... But anyway that should keep her happy. Might even put one in mine if I get the itch for it... Message me on those rims though man i want to get some like that.

Ooohhh you mean these junkers??

Haha... I still have them stacked in the garage, I don't think I could ever get rid of emm to be honest with ya...I love the way they flow with the lines of the car and i dig the fact that as far as i know im the only one rockin emm on a third gen (proper offset and all)... If you really want a set, google Ace Wheels and browse around... Mine are 18x8.5 Ace Zues's in Gunmetal with a polished lip... Unfortunately I don't think they make them in the proper offset anymore, closest I think is 20mm - but thats nothing a lil 1\4 inch spacer wont fix... While you're there, check out their forged line; pricey - but they all look utterly amazing... Ironically 80% of them look like they were specifically made for our vehicles, haha... If you do end up getting a custom set, things are taken care of promptly and the quality is top notch... Def going back to them for my next set...

Just out of curiosity how do you plan on pulling off the heated seats?? Seems like a good idea that I just might look into myself...

yeah they do look sweet i checked them out man...

So the heated seats I am just going to run off the power from the drivers power seat which well isnt going to be power anymore. and Corbeau makes a seat heater and thats what i am going to use. pretty easy, or it should be haha..

Re: My 1991 Z28 Project

Well the car and I are now both back at the Academy in C-Springs... It was a crazy road trip involving my drivers side T-Top being blown off going 90 mph on the highway and and flying 100 feet into the air and landing off the road and surviving entirely intact. Haha seriously it is perfectly fine and I dont know how the hell it survived that kind of a fall..

As for updates the new black carpet is in,and needs some adjusting for sure, I cant get it to quite settle right... The interior is all back in painted black, I still need to fix a couple wear spots but it looks good... The Black Leather CR1 Cobreau Racing Seat fits me like a glove and I love driving the car with it... I got some kicker 6x9s for the rear speakers and got rid of the old sonys. I did the little resistor trick to bypass the VATS pita system and now I am soooooo much happier with my Z because it starts every time I turn the key now

I cut it and buffed the car out and it looks hideous!!!!!!!!! I need a paint job badly haha... So I will be gettting one very soon... I am ashamed of really how bad the paint is looking...

I leave for Mildenhall RAF B at 4pm today so I wont be getting any work done for at least a couple weeks until I get back... But then it will all start coming together...

Re: My 1991 Z28 Project

Wow. Its cool to find someone else here from MT. I am only a couple hours drive away. I cant say I deem my car road worthy at the moment, it has a mild shake around 70-80. Goes away around 85+. Got nailed by the highway guys doing 89 3 days after I bought it. I have a build thread floating around here in the member's camaros board. If my car isn't tore apart it would be cool to go for a cruise in B-town! Oh....a tornado tore through the metra today....

Anyway....good luck with the maro, and your AF training!

I am getting the windows tinted soon, possibly tomorrow as well as fixing the AC which doesn't work at all. The drivers window like popped out of the rail in the front or something so I need to look at that as well. Big plans will shortly be coming to the light!!!!!
And an engine shot... Replaced a front coolant hose that cracked.. Not the big one but the like 8 inch small one...

Re: My 1991 Z28 Project

Yeah it has been a long time since I was on here, but I sold it one night for $3500 so I made a few hundred bucks back. There were a lot of things that had started getting to me driving it around. The drivers side window kept falling out of the rail and would just fall to the bottom of the door. The headlights stopped working sometimes or would get stuck with the brights on. Other random wiring gremlins poked up here and there. Just a million little things that went wrong with it. So I made some money off of it and sold it.

I then was looking at a new Camaro and drove one and thought well it is better than the 2010 mustang I had just driven. But the sales guys were not budging and wanted like $4k over MSRP for it which I wouldnt do so I went across the street and saw a 2011 Mustang pull up. I drove it and then bought the basic one that night. So I am a traitor...

In my defense... It is FAAAAAAAASSSSSTTT! 11.7 @ 118 mph 1/4 with my mods so far... Just intake tune and full exhaust.. On street tires... Oh my haha...
Buuut I am also selling it now. I am most likely losing my job and the car will go next. I will be left with my little POS Honda CRX that I was building with my club to be a auto-x car.. It at least will be fast...

Here is the stang...

So I am still in the game as of now, and watched a buddy on here I cant remember his screename take an old 92 and throw a carb'd 350 in her from some old truck. It should be fast but dang it is a POS. It is nasty inside and out and makes me wish I still had my Z but had used all my loan for the mustang and put it into modding the Z! Oh well you live and learn and I will be back again someday with a new 91 z28...or a 91 vert...
