SheldonZ28's Iroc-z in its 4th stage!
Hey Everyone.
Well ive been through 4 stages in this iroc.
1. Clean it up from its beatup original condition (Aug '06)
2. Make it fast. Cam the 305 (Spring '07)
3. Realize the cammed 305 was a turd, drop in a 5.3L (Spring '08)
4. Realize that was slow too, Heads/Cam/Induction 6.0L (Spring '09)
So that brings us to now!
Here's what i did this winter:
-New motor = '04 6.0L, MS3 Cam (237/242 .603/.609 113LSA), TSP Stg. 1 LS6 CNC Heads, GM HD LS2 Timing Chain, Ported/Shimmed Oil pump, Crmo pushrods, Patriot Dual valve springs, ASP Under drive, FAST LSX intake, Bosch 41LB injectors, Ported TB
-New Transmission = '00 Tremec T56 = LS7 Clutch, Pro 5.0 Shifter
Thats the major things. I completely re-did my swap, including re-wiring it, and i converted it to a cable throttle (Wish i didnt), its got all new fuel feed setup, new braking system (Line locks!), new power steering system, new exhaust, new cooling system etc. I basically, re-did the swap. Only thing i re used was my cold air, and my engine mounts.
Here's how she looks now!
Granted im still not quite finished it, waiting for headlights to show up, gotta re-bleed the brakes, and the interior isnt finished. Exterior is almost done, and the driveline is done!

very sweet, your rims are one of my favorite 4th gen wheels. should be a pretty potent combo.

Have you or are you going to dyno it or take it to the track? Love to see what it can do!

Nice Sheldon! You da man
How come you wish you hadn't done the throttle cable instead of DBW?
I am finally starting to make more progress on my swap. The block has been bored, decked, honed, and I picked up a cam for it last week, now I'm just waiting on getting the valve springs so I can have the shortblock assembled and have the heads put on. Later this month the 305 should be coming out.
Oh and the cam I picked out, you're gonna love it. I got an MS4

I found the DBW was exceptionally smooth feeling, it was easy to setup, and it was different. It allowed the computer a little more control over the motor, so things like idle were easier to tune.
Good to hear!! Dieing to see the motor in that thing, its going to be absolutly badass. Good call on the cam! Im excited to get some miles on the cam, and have it tune properly. Its got some lugging going on at low rpm, but i know an exceptional tuner can really make the Magic Stick cam's drive like stock.
She's definately not short on power, first time i had'er out, bliped the throttle and it was sideways in no time!
Unfortunately never got the 5.3L to the track, but working from my butt dyno, i can tell already that the new setup is gonna be night/day faster.
I can just see the rearend replacement in the near future

Sure did. After 2 years of bickering with my 4th gen dash swaps, never being able to make them look right, and endless anger that things wouldnt work, i threw in the towel, and yanked 'er out.
Now i get to go through the fun battle of trying to make the 3rd gen dash fit back in. The dash has given me the most headaches, but im almost there.
btw, i found that dashpad when we moved into the new unit for our store.

LOL, I ended up getting one off z28.com, and picked it up at G13, I am almost done with mine. I just need to mold my apillers together., I think that is the swap I get the most coments on, I just need to figure out how to make the door panels to look as good

Nice ride sheldon! I've often wondered about the placement of an LS1 in the engine bay of a thirdgen. Obviously it fits, but I wonder if some of the problems that plague 4th gen owners because of the design of their engine compartment and dash... are still present in the thirdgen.
In short, is it still a bitch to change sparks on that in the 3rd gen engine bay ?

To put things simplest, last night i had all 8 plugs out, and did a compression test on all 8 cylinders in all of 25 minutes
Wish i could undo time a bit, back to '06 when i first bought the car, i would never have touched the interior, as that now is kicking my *** everytime i turn around
