Finally, New Tires and Rims
17x8 Torque Thrust II M Anthricite with 245/45ZR17 Toyo Poxies. I know there are a lot of 3rd Gens with this wheel, but what a big improvement over stock. What do you think?

Re: Finally, New Tires and Rims
When I saw them in the cataloge the spokes looked darker. They're much lighter, which I like. I'm real happy with them.

Yes, it's the stock color but with a two stage clear coat paint job. Here's an old picture with the stock rims.

Re: Finally, New Tires and Rims
I like them--perfect size! Really steps up the look of the car...
FYI--a bra and rain do not mix...I would just be carefull (blistering will occur and then you will need a new paintjob for the front end).

Re: Finally, New Tires and Rims
Since you asked 'What do you think', I'm going to be honest and say they don't go well with the car. There are a shittload of other wheels that I think would have looked better, but then again, this is my opinion.
As long as you are happy with it, that's all that matters.

Re: Finally, New Tires and Rims
They just don't mesh too well with the car...that's all. They don't bring out the true beauty of the car. I think a simple 5 or 6 star straight design with some depth would have better served the car.
Something like this design, although there are so many others.

Re: Finally, New Tires and Rims
I love the size!
The design itself is very nice and your car looks nice on them, but like Mr Iroc Z said they're not exactly the best match.
I'm an architect... i notice such things too I see a bit of a clash between the rounded, curvy style of the spokes and the mean, brutal styling of the car. Being an early thirdgen, 82-84, it's sharp, angular, mean. It just begs for sharp, angular and mean rims. Those suggested in the previous post would have been spot on.
Not that they look bad - they look great, but IMHO they're more suited for 85-onwards, cars with more curvey frontends and skirts. I'm just saying that some sharp and angular design would have been even better on your car

Re: Finally, New Tires and Rims
Yes, that is a very nice wheel. I found that many of the wheels that I liked are not available for our cars. Either the offset was wrong, or backspacing, or outrageous price etc.. Funny how you mention the sharp, angular, and mean look of the 82-84, thats why I bought those wheels, They're 5 spoke with a sharp crease down the middle of each spoke. In addition, the spokes are shaped similar to the 82-84 Z28 hood scoops.

Re: Finally, New Tires and Rims
I guess we just pay more attention to different parts of our car and see different features as the defining ones It's a human thing, we all see things differently. The most important thing is that YOU should like how it looks

I agree and I do appreciate the comments. And I couldn't be more happier with the wheels and tires. Up close and personal they look very aggressive IMO...

Kevin,
Do you ever make it to the good guys car show, or any other Thirdgen gatherings in the Bay Area? I am almost done with my car and looking to start something in the Bay Area.

Its all a matter of taste. Personally I liked the look of it with the stock rims. But if it makes you happy then its all good.
