Re: Outside's complete, next inside.. what do you think

umm maaco's a very long story.. basically they told me my car was done 3 times.. aannnnd one time they parked it out front.. and it got hit.. another time they had the door rubbing like crazy.. the headlights were litterally able to be pulled outta the bucket.. and the third time they were just careless and cracked a brand new front bumper from GM that we bought (it was in perfect shape right from the dealership)

as for discount tires (in spokane washington) they are a bunch of liers.. i ordered my Z06's in late febuary eairly march.. waited a little over a week.. finally they call and say my 2 wheels are in.. well i specificly said i needed all 4.. so they say that there was some sort of miscommuniation between me and the guy who ordered them and they'll order another set.. another 2 weeks go by and they call and say their there.. spokanes about 2 and a half hours to 3 away and i make sure "are you sure their the +15 offset ones" because they offer them in 3-4 different offsets.. they assure me that that's what they are.. so i make the trip up there.. first they hit me with a $90 shipping charge which they neglicted to mention over the phone.. i tell them that's ludicris and i'm not paying it and they can keep the wheels.. they waive the fee, we pay and their loading them in the car and i asked if i could see one of them.. i look at the box and it's a +56mm offset.. my anger peaks i tell them taht's not what i ordered and i want to talk to the guy who ordered them.. the guy just happens to of called in sick that day so they say they'll reorder them.. the next day (saturday) i call them and ask if they ordered them.. they said yes and we'll ship them to your front door for your troubles.. then a guy calls me monday and say's "oh you need +56 offset for your car, those one's were the right ones" i tell him i've done my research and to just send me the +15 ones" so they lied right there again about ordering them that last friday.. so finally 2 weeks later (this last thursday) my wheels were on my front steps when i got home..

Re: Outside's complete, next inside.. what do you think

another long story short on the paint.. came out with more dents then it had when it went in.. had orange peel like crazy the first time i went to look at it.. has a big dent they want to charge me $100 to fix in the rear behind the wheel.. paint off where it looks like they painted the car and the guy moved it and rubbed his foot on it.. they didn't get in the "scoops" on the gfx.. and there's still scratches where the first time they messed up on the door rubbing.. and the rear spoilers got a big gash in the middle.. and i'm sure there's more that i'm forgetting.. awful lot of mistakes for a $2300 job.... i'm going in either this tuesday or wednesday..

also forgot to metion in the first post.. i had forgot to take some tools outta the car before i bruoght it in and they were missing, and same with the ash tray.. kept nothing but quarters in it and when i picked it up it was full.. b ut with pennys and maybe 5 quarters left.. and they cracked my dash in 4 different places..

Re: Outside's complete, next inside.. what do you think

I just bought a set of coilovers. I like them casue you can adjust the height if need be, intead of using dropped coils. There a kinda PITA to adjust, cause you have to do it manually. But its cheaper than air bags for someone like me on a strict budget.

For the Dashpad go into the interior parts thread I've seen a few for sale, not sure if its for an 86', doesn't hurt to look, Also a member named RCAR he has alot of parts for sale,, tell him I sent you.

Re: Outside's complete, next inside.. what do you think

I've played with the idea of switching the grill but since there's been so many people now and in the past that say's it i'll probely order one somtime soon

and my rims are 17x8.5 all around, wanted to go for a staggered look but no local places could even get a hold of these, so i ended up ordering outta town.. big mistake, but hey, i'm very happy with the finished product

also if my car wasn't originally equiped with fog lights.. how hard would it be to put new one's in... and if i were to go to my local autozone or schucks do those foglight kits work well and come with everthing? or should i try to local a complete set with wireing and all?

Also as for the wax and stuff, it's freash paint.. so i gotta wait another 2-3 weeks before i put wax and stuff like that on, not done cureing yet

Re: Outside's complete, next inside.. what do you think

im pretty sure autozone sell them fog lights, 17x8.5 can that v6 roll um? and as for letting you paint cure i was meaning after it cures wax it, i know just two be on the safe side when mine was painted i waited about a month and if you want two keep it clean real clean get a high end car cover and the paint job will last a life time.

My buddy is a manager at Discount Tire here, me and another buddy went there to get 2 17 inch z06 rims and drag radials because he already had z06s and wanted to just be able to swap the radials on and off and have them match, when he went to pick them up the dumbasses had gotten ZR1 rims....also back to my manager buddy, he use to brag about the cars that would come in and them spining the tires and crap i told him that if i took my car in and someone spun my tires id have their job, he just laughed and said that they wouldnt do anything to anyone....i refuse to go there. i order my tires from summit and have a small tire shop mount them for me....

i agree, discount tire sucks. i always wait there while they work on my car, and i usually drive it in and out of the bay because i dont like other people driving my cars. If anyone ever spun the tires id be getting a full refund plus whatever damages i could make beleivable in court...like transmission mount...everything ido breaks my tranny mount lol.

yea, the autozone fog lights will work, just get the ones u like. They are fairly easy to wire up, plus u get to put a custom switch somewhere on ur car. they usually come with instructions. u pretty much just have to ground them, run a wire to ur battery, then to the firewall, attach a switch, and connect the ground. its simple.

Re: Outside's complete, next inside.. what do you think

as for the exhaust travis.. i see you've already made friends on your other thread.. i have what i believe is a flowmaster on there.. sounds like my friends 40 series (as i stated tho i'm not 100% sure if it's those or a knockoff) but it does sound beastly and i often have people as if i have a 350 in there.. i get a kick outta it and tell them i'll pretend..

and as for discount.. it's disappointing les schwab hasn't put them outta bussiness yet (i'm sure alot more people arn't fans of them) but i've had nothing but good experiences with les schwab..

and a couple questions on the fog lights 1. are they actually good in the fog.. or are they those "they look pretty but don't work well" and 2. would it be possible to put the foglights switch where the stock one is supose to be without tearing apart my bezel

Re: Outside's complete, next inside.. what do you think

I gotta tell you man that looks sweet. I havn't seen an rs look that good in years. v6 smeech6 you can always change that. And to defend you on the exhaust I've heard 2.8's,3.1's,3.8's and of course 4.3's that sound very close to a small block. It's all in the muffler and exhaust. You can make em sound like crap or sound good. I would warn you though that makko is notorious for bad paint jobs. You will definately want to keep it waxxed real good or it will fade in less than 3 years. That's the same company that painted mine before I got it and within 2 years it was already turning pink. As soon as I get the money for the paint my moms boyfriend is going to spray it for me and straighten the passenger door our. I had a deer hit it and it looks real wavy in one spot. He already replaced 3 pieces of metal in the right rear quarter where it had some bad rust spots. You can't even tell unless you look into where the spare tire goes and you can see the sealer he put on it in there. So I have a pink car with a dark red hood with the clear chipping and same for rear bumper, and a primer right rear quarter. Hopefully soon I will be able to paint it. It really is a nice looking car sorry you had so much trouble. I used to work in the tle at wal-mart here where I live and I wouldn't even let them drive my car in the shop. I always did it and even though we weren't alowed to work on our own cars I did cause I didn't trust any of them to work on it. It means too much to me to let someone else f**k it up even if they did pay for the mistakes they made. One more thing even lowering it a 1/2 inch will make a big difference on your car.

Re: Outside's complete, next inside.. what do you think

I firmly stand by what i said, people get beside the car and they hear my exhaust and assume it's something good under the hood.. it's sorta like (bad comarason sorry) a *****.. they sound really loud like.. well my lawn mower.. but if you take that exhaust off and put the stock one back on it sounds like the winds blowing..

and as for maaco, i just washed my car and noticed a few more spots, so i'm going to litterally sit down and make a list of all the stuff that they need to fix and tell them if it's anymore then a day's turn around that the BBB will be called and the local newspaper will get a nice letter about how poorly bussiness are being run these day's..

And last but not least, thank you all for the compliments, means alot to me

Good luck with Macco, the one here does some awsome work. I seen them paint a Lexus that PPG Chrome Illusion the one that changes color, anyways they sprayed like 7 years ago & it still looks good. Keep us posted on the outcome.
