Re: New wheels on the RS!

I would have to say that looks very good. Well Done! I think I might get some Z06 wheels for my car this summer. How much were the spacers?

Thanks!

I'm thinking about C5 Z06 wheels for mine. heh I got them used pretty cheap from a friend on Z28.com, but they run $150 per pair new from Skulte. I just needed fronts cause of my 4th gen rear.

That's what I hear alot from you, hahaa

Re: New wheels on the RS!

Looks great! I've always liked those wheels. I'm interested to see a dished version of those. But I agree, they would really set off your car if they were black even though they look great as they are now.

Re: New wheels on the RS!

I used 17x9s in 275/40R17s with a 2" spacer in the front and a fourth get rear.

Thanks. Yea, I thought about the SLP version (dished) but...eh. too much cabbage, haha. I'm considering the black, though I think I'll them as is for now.

Re: New wheels on the RS!

I also like the look of ZR1's on our cars. I recently bought some for my car, but have only gotten around to test fitting them so far. I got the 9.5 front and 11 inch rears. As soon as I get all my brake upgrades and my A-arms come in they are finally going to be on. I think that black looks a ton better than the silver. Did you get your's from TomZ Wheels or another place?

Re: New wheels on the RS!

Got the wheels and tires used from a guy on LS1Tech. Kinda wished I'd got new ones.

Chrome would hve looked good, but chrome is heavier than paint...alot. I like to keep weight off. I do like the stockers, but these are wider, taller, and some how lighter.

Thanks, I think so too.

Re: New wheels on the RS!

ZR1's look awesome on 3rdgen's. To each their own when it comes to rim color but I personally would have them black with a polished lip. GS styles Looks good though dude, nice!

Re: New wheels on the RS!

Thanks guys!
The SS hood give me a little more clearance below the scoop. Maybe about 2-3 inches or so. I'll try to find or get a underhood shot for you.

It would be GREATLY appreciated if you could. I need about an extra inch of clearance but am trying to stay away from the traditional cowl hood. A pic would be GREAT

Thanks

Re: New wheels on the RS!

If all you need is an inch, then the SS hood would be fine. Well, at least one like mine. There are several other brands. It's pouring the rain right now, but I'll get one when I can.

How wide are the tires on your car, man? Mine are 275s, but yours look fat...lol

That's looks pretty good. I didn't like the idea of the red stripes with the black t-tops for my car. I hope you don't live near me though. lol

Curious about skulte, what is their website? And is that price for the 17X9.5 ZR-1's?

Re: New wheels on the RS!

skulte.com is their website. And it is $150 per pair for the spavers you'll need. Or, you can run spacers on the front and a 4th gen rear on the back.

Cause, your car would be too similar to mine. haha

Re: New wheels on the RS!

Personally, I think the only time that white looks good is with the black headlight pockets... Then they look pretty killer...

And at the time that pic was taken, the rear tires were 285/50/17, and the fronts were 245/50/17. But I had rubbing issues on the back, so now I have 245/45/17 all the way around. Even still it looks pretty nice. I loved the look of the 285s in the back... but I couldnt stand the ear-piercing scrape everytime I went over a dip/pothole/speedbump... just about anything.

I think the only thing that ur car needs now is white bulbs for your front and sideblinkers, or smoked lenses front and side blinkers... to go with the black headlight pockets and the black stripes... but thats just my .02

Looks good

Re: New wheels on the RS!

As far as I know, my car is the only 3rd gen with my exact set of exterior mods....so far.

Mine was white to start with and I thought about going to gunmetal or silver, but I didn't want to pay to have it switched over right...so I just changed a few things, lol.

Mine actually scrape less with the 275s all around than my stock 16s do... but that's cause I have the 4th gen rear end and the 16s don't fit that well in the rear with it. Mine came with 285s on the rear, and they didn't look that fat...must be a difference in tires. My front corner markers are aftermarket clears, but with yellow bulbs. And the fronts are new GMs. I just like the amber bulbs better than clear for some reason.

They aren't center caps, they are a 3 layer vinyl that goes over the center-cap. Had them made locally. If you're interested, I'll see how much they are (like $20 I think) and tell me what colors you want the lettering to be and I'll send you a set...well, you'll have to give me the money for them. lol

I would love to get my hands on a set... My wheels are Black and the car is like a maroon... If you could try and match something up with those colors that would definitely be awesome!!!

Re: New wheels on the RS!

I'll see what I can do. It's snowing here, so work is out tomorrow. I'll stop by and check on the pricing for you. I need to check on the progress of my new gauge over-lays too. I'm pretty sure they could do black and maroon. Would you want maroon to match the car or red to match the calipers? I'll warn you, I'll be able to get the colors close, but not exact. They only have so many colors and I don't have your car, haha.

Re: New wheels on the RS!

I thought about that... as far as maroon or red... honestly either... I think this is a small enough piece that even if its not a perfect match to the body its not going to be that noticable. I think if they have maroon and its a decent color (Not purpleish) then go the maroon route... If not then Red would work since the calipers all the way around are all red!

Thanks Again!

Re: New wheels on the RS!

Alright. I'll check prices and colors and then get back to you. If they have what you want, you can send me the money for them over PayPal and I'll get 'em shipped out to you. Shouldn't be much, just the cost of decals, a stamp and envelope, and maybe a couple of bucks for the leg work

Re: New wheels on the RS!

The weather just cleared up today, but I spent all day working on my gauge cluster and installing steroes. I'll get some tomorrow when I change my thermostat.

Re: New wheels on the RS!

I've not forgotten you!! I just can't get my camera and computer to play nice together. When I put the memory card in the computer, it says it needs to reformat the card.... I'll try to find the USB cable and go that route.

And at the time that pic was taken, the rear tires were 285/50/17, and the fronts were 245/50/17. But I had rubbing issues on the back, so now I have 245/45/17 all the way around.

its a very nice looking car but i don't like the rims. i like the crager for after market, and the original rims at 15 inch are there too.
i prefer a rim that is not flat like a pancake.
but they are very nice.

Re: New wheels on the RS!

The SLP 3rd gen specific ones are not flat like the ones on the 4th gen are. They have a lip between the rim of the wheel and the face of the wheel. I don't have any up close pics of it, but I will take one tomorrow and post it up (along with how it looks with the 245/45/17s)

Re: New wheels on the RS!

Those do look good. I wish that the ones I have had a lip like that. That lip plus 9 inches wide would be nice
