Swap parts that work.

Swap parts that work.
I really think this subforum could use a sticky of parts that work for an LS swap, it would give a nice place to quickly see if a part has been tested in a 3rd gen LS swap, but it needs details, one thread that does a great job with details is this one
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...ls-engine.html
it gives a breakdown of each oil pan, and how it does or does not fit. but the oil pan is only part of the equation, intake manifolds, FEAD's, exhaust parts, ect, could all be mapped out this way.
I see parts fitting into 3 groups
Just plain fits and works
-as implied, the part bolts on, no fuss, and works
works or fits conditionally
-this part can work, but there are attributes about it that make it less desirable, or it needs to work with other parts, this could include an oil pan that clears the K member, but hangs down low, or headers that work with a tubular K member, but not a stock K member.
doesn't work
-I use the term "doesn't" carefully, with enough hacking and welding and messing around, anything could work, but it's outside of what most would use for a swap.
I'm going to update the follow on posts as I do research, but if you have anything to add, please post up.

Please reply to this thread with your parts recommendations, and things you used or found not to work in your swap.

Hi, ericjon262. I'm glad to see your interest in these things.
There are more tech threads like the oil pan thread you found. You'll want to check this out, https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...date-ls-5.html
The individual tech threads were created for the specific purpose of supporting a new LS Swap sticky, kind of like chapters of a book. The threads get straight to the point so people don't have to wade through hundreds or thousands of conversational posts. It takes volunteers to make this happen, and as you'll see in the link above.... I'm looking for volunteers. The sticky has not been created yet.
Volunteers don't necessarily have to be the technical experts themselves, they just need to have good writing skills and a strong ability to learn. Experts often will help fill the gaps if somebody else will take on the work of writing up the tech thread.
