Finally got an lsx

Just picked up a 5.3 from a wrecked '02 Avalanche at the junkyard today. Missing coil packs, oil pan and powersteering but I'm not too worried about those considering I only paid $277 for it. Someone took the dash cluster out so I'm unsure of miles. Had the 706 heads. Can't wait to get the heads off and get it on my engine stand to get a better look.

Pop the valve covers and see if you got the castech heads or not.

Re: Finally got an lsx

Just bought a few LS manuals. One on how to build and one on how to swap a LSX. Thought I better be up to speed on the subject before I go out and buy one.

Re: Finally got an lsx

If you pop the heads, then you'll need new head bolts as well as new head gaskets. Better to rent a borescope first.

You can take the rockers off and look for the foundry emblem instead
