Lsx swap question, should be easy

I have a line on an LS car that I would be able to get that is complete. Do I need to use the 4th gen steering column with the LSX swap since it is eletrically compatible with the pcm?

You could do it that way, but you don't "need" to. The VATS can easily be tuned out of the PCM.

I'm not sure exactly what would be involved getting a 4th gen steering column in a 3rd gen. I do know the 4th gen is rack & pinion.

Re: Lsx swap question, should be easy

The 4th gen column is basically the same as a 3rd gen. The wiper module inside is not compatible with 3rd gen wipers, but it can be swapped with an older unit. The shaft mount is different. 3rd gen use a through bolt where 4th gens use a clamp collar. You'll need to drill a hole to reuse the 3rd gen shaft, or upgrade to an astro shaft (recommended)
