I sent them to Gratiot Wheel and Tire. They ever so slightly machined the face, made sure all the wheels were straight and clear-coated them.

Hours sandblasting and washing Saturday has led me to powdercoating today.
Powdercoated the calipers in a color called Blasted Aluminum.

Definitely subscribing.
I bought my car as a shell and I wish I was as meticulous as you are being with this one.

More powdercoating tonight. Satin black.
For some reason, freshly powdercoated 1LE spindles give me a warm fuzzy feeling.
Many of these parts look better than original. The factory didn't do much to many of these parts.
My basement paint booth. Doing many plastic pieces. The SEM Trim Black covers plastic so well and makes old parts look like new.

What kind of oven are you using to powder coat your stuff? Are you just using a standard cooking oven?

POR 15 on the rear axle. Installed brake lines.
It feels good to actually be putting parts back on the car. Installed brake booster, master cylinder, rear brake and fuel lines.
New non-AC heater box. Got rid of that awful aftermarket AC.
Wired the fuel pump with Racetronix hotwire kit.
Installed fuel tank and heat shields.
Installed charcoal canister.
Installed Hawks Third Gen ETC gas pedal bracket.
Installed wiper transmission and cowl

This is the best third gen lower control arm I've ever seen if I do say so myself. Fresh bushings and ball joint, sandblasted and powdercoated.
Got the big parts back from the powdercoater. I had to send these out because they're too big for our oven. The engine support is beautiful and you can also see the rear sway bar here.
Freshly powdercoated 1LE front sway bar. It looks better than new.

I repaired the blower harness and re-loomed. Everything under the hood will be loomed in this mesh loom from Terminal Supply. I love the look of this stuff over the cheap corrugated plastic loom.
Completed front suspension and brakes today.
Routed canister line.

I'm finally done with this rear axle. After getting wrong axle and pinion seals a couple times I got the right ones installed. I also had problems with the differential cross pin locking bolt head rounding off. I ended sacrificing an 8mm Craftsman wrench and welding it to the head of the bolt to break it loose. Then I welded a bolt to the head to get the rest of it out. It's all back together now and I was able to install the rear axle. I could actually bolt wheels to this car and wheel it out of the garage.

Progress has slowed a little as the parts I need get more expensive. My 4L60 is sitting at RPM Transmissions waiting to be picked up. Today I picked up my new engine harness from Howell Engine Developments.

Thanks. No, this isn't my first rodeo. I've come full circle though and I'm back to third gens 15 years after swapping an LT1 in my 1985 IROC. I work for a race engine shop that also builds cars so I'm around this caliber of work every day and have access to the powdercoating oven and lots of tools if needed.

Excellent Job!
How did the Hawks pedal bracket work, I made my own.
What are your plans with exhaust - routing around the 4L60e, move shifter cable above trans pan, etc.

Re: 1991 Camaro Z28 1LE resto-mod project
The Hawks pedal bracket bolted to the car perfectly. I don't have a pedal for it yet so I haven't bolted one on.
For the exhaust I will be running Hawks headers. Beyond that I haven't really thought too far ahead. I'll likely be doing some custom work into parts of a Corsa system.
I haven't thought that far ahead on the shifter cable bracket either. I still need to figure that out.

Re: 1991 Camaro Z28 1LE resto-mod project
Very nice work so far. The car should be gorgeous when you're finished. Highly jealous of the garage. My only suggestion would be a Walter Racecraft steering shaft (or an Astro or Jeep shaft) to get rid of the rag joint in the steering, and to relocate the brake lines behind the steering shaft.

RPM built 4L60 and converter arrived today.
I've been stopped on the car until the powertrain is ready. These are the expensive parts and I'm almost done collecting them.

Re: 1991 Camaro Z28 1LE resto-mod project
Big progress. I have the LS3 now and I'm prepping it for install. I swapped the oil pan to C6 Corvette and the damper/water pump to 5th Gen Camaro.
Added 4th gen engine mounts.
Mounted the 1991 Camaro EOP sensor using the block off plate from a C5 which worked out well. It just needed to be drilled and tapped for the new thread.
I installed a second coolant temp sensor to run the gauge.
Finished up some of the powdercoating I had remaining. I powdercoated the hood latch bracket and painted the latch mechanism satin black.

Re: 1991 Camaro Z28 1LE resto-mod project
Yesterday I installed the Holley oil pan and the trans.
Huge progress today. Installed the engine/trans..
Pocket made me a C100 harness to run the gauges. I requested it without loom so I could loom it with my mesh loom that I've been using on the rest of the car. I spliced the EOP and CTS sensor connectors to run the oil pressure and temperature gauges.
The 4th gen trans dipstick tube sticks up too far because the engine is half under the cowl, but it's going to be in my way for some engine accents I'm doing so I cut it down. I trimmed the dipstick by the same amount, but I couldn't cut the end off of it because it has the indicator marks on it, so I took the top apart, cut it down from the top, drilled the holes in the end and put it back together.
