I have searched here and from what I can tell is anyone using a 5.3 in their 3rd gen cannot use the truck accessories but I haven't exactly heard why. A few months back I purchased a complete running 2000 Chevy Silverado for a future project. I also just happened on an 85 IROC I built and sold in 1989 that I will soon be buying. It was a theft back in 85 and I put a carbureted 327 in it but would like to put a different engine in it. I want it to be a budget build but also have a semi fresh 350 removed from a 69 chevelle project. I like the idea of the 5.3 for the newer technology (a little of the coolness factor) although its not a Ls motor per say but am trying to decide if the best thing is to just put the 350 in it and put an aftermarket fuel injection on it. The (budget) idea sounds like it has gone out the window if I can really use the truck accessories and have to start looking for parts not on my 300 dollar truck I bought. That was long just to wonder why the truck accessories don't work, sorry. I understand I will need motor mounts, trans mounts, speedo box, etc

They will work but more difficult to make work. The alternator will stick out of the hood, the upper rad hose goes up instead of forward.

So most likely it wont fit under this hood either due to the height, I was hoping due to the extra height the accessories and truck intake would fit. I can see the setup not fitting under a stock hood but was hoping they would fit under this hood. I guess worse case put it in and go from there, thanks for those who replied

FWIW, I've seen where people were able to move the alternator on the truck set up but I'm not sure how it was done. Might be worth researching.

Also, since that hood is fiberglass it might be possible to add a bump to it vs. metal which is what most people have.

search this site. Its been Done with a cowl hood. As for the water hose thats an easy fix also.All documented here or on ls1tech,etc.. Google search it. and put thirdgen in the search words also and hits will come up to this site,etc..

When I have more time I will find links and put em here also. Unless you find em before me.

glocksrule, I came across a bunch of threads that you can look through if you want. Some have the trunk intake and others just general info packed into single threads. Some good reading if you're up to it and have the time.
The second link also includes a side shot of the truck intake as well.
