Just a REAL cost of a Stock LS 5.3 5.7 6.0. I know the more popular bigger engines cost more as a complete unit.

Your swap all depends if you using new or used parts, doing some or all the work yourself, or using a manual or automatic trans. My 5.3/t-56 swap "real" cost was around 6500 all said and done, including a tune. I went with a used 5.3, ls1 cam, ls6 intake, stock manifolds. I also chose to go with the t-56 over the automatic tho, and i didn't do the harness myself, so i could of saved some money there. Also i bought all of my accessories brand new, including the ac compressor, as well as the f body oil pan. I also replaced the oil pump and timing set, as well as the head gaskets while i had it out.
If your looking for a really basic stock swap, and can find most of the parts used, and do all the work yourself, id say you can get it done for around 2500-3500. It really depends on where you live though, I'm in new york and 5.3 long blocks go as low as 500 if your lucky, but are usually around 800.00 Ive seen other people across the county get them for as low as 200.00.

Id budget $4000 for a stock 5.3/4L60E swap. Mods, repairs, bigger engines, T56 etc go up from there
T56 with clutch, hydraulics will normally set you back $2000 on its own, vs the common $500 4L60E
Starting with a 4th gen donor car is a big expense at the start, but several members reported a profit after the swap from selling bits of the car. Donors are becoming scarce though
DIY parts will drop the figure substantially. Im wrapping up a 5.3/T5 swap on a $1000 budget, but I built absolutely everything myself and reused as much as possible

Don't be too scared to do the wiring yourself, I did mine took about a week on it taking my time and getting everything the way I wanted it routed and wrapped how I like. That was my first time building a harness. Pocket has put together so much detailed info on its easy, time consuming but not to difficult. I have about 6 into my swap right now doing the work myself and finding good deals on ls1tech , its a rebuilt LS1/T56 combo. With a lot of bolt on s. I would spen your week getting the motor swap done , and cleaning up the bay with some fresh paint, then worry bout the rest after,,assuming this is not your only car
