Re: Lq4 swap question
It depends on how you do it. Yes Truck accessories will not work as they sit. BUT if you have some fab/hands on skills anything can work. I ran F-body Accessories in my last Iroc LQ Swap. This time around I'm changing it up since F-body accessories are was over priced, and I have all the AC stuff for a truck also.
Stock Truck Balancer.
Stock Truck water pump (cut off the top inlet, welding shut, then drilling and tapping the front so it looks the same as an fbody pump). I'm assuming they used similar casts since the Truck pump has a casting flat for a front spout) Or you can buy a 5th gen water pump. It has the truck spacing (from what Ive read) but has a front driver side inlet.
Stock Truck Alt. Currently have it mounted down low (drilled a hole in the block and the alt fits there perfect. I think im gonna actually end up moving this to the passenger side head to get it out of the way incase I wanna do flipped truck manifolds for my turbo setup.
Then I bought a F-body PS pump ($40 used), which I will either make a bracket or just buy the Dingo bracket ($40). it is a replacement for F-body cars but they also have the option with spacing for trucks.
Another guy on here has used all truck accessories, however I was not fond of how little belt wrap was on the balancer. But he claimed it works good.
But if you can find all f-body stuff for a good price I say ****** it up. I'm going this route just bc I have the time and I am a machinist so I can make brackets if need be. Also trying to limit the funds on this car.
