99-00 4l60E compatibility to 04 5.3l
Good Afternoon all,
I was wondering if I could get some clarification on something. I've spent the last two hours or so reading and researching my problem or what I think could be a potential problem and couldn't find a definitive answer.
I have a 2004 5.3 that came with a 4x4 tranny so rather then make the 4x4 a 2wd I sold it and got a 2wd 99-00 (not sure which year right now) 4l60E transmission.
I was wondering if I could get clarification as to whether or not it will bolt up. The reason I ask is that I know the 99-00 6.0l had a longer (7/16 IIRC) crankshaft because it was bolted up to the 4l80E and because of that, there were issues bolting it to the 4l60E and that the 01+ engines came with the removable spacer.
From what I can gather, the 99-00 4l60E will bolt up just fine because I have the short crank and the 4l60E trans from 99-00 were for the 4.8 and 5.3 which didn't have the longer crank.
I was hoping to get some peace of mind before I go too far with the 4l60E I just got.
Thanks,
Steve

If its the older 1 pc case you will need the crank adapter to accept the older torque converter nub. If its the newer 2 pc case you change nothing, bolt it up and go
Id avoid 94 and older 4L60E's because the internal wiring is different and lacks the PWM function
When using an older trans such as TH350/400, 700R4, or any 4L80E, the crank adapter is required
