untuned 5.3 dyno numbers w/ some nitrous

Well finally got to see what my car makes on the dyno 272whp/310tq on motor and boy it woke up on the juice, 380hp/430tq. Under the nitrous pull had to let off the throttle because of a fuel leak.

Re: untuned 5.3 dyno numbers w/ some nitrous

This is useless without some engine specs posted... Is it just a stock 5.3 or what? Those are some sweet numbers though, that is for sure! How big of a shot?

Re: untuned 5.3 dyno numbers w/ some nitrous

It has a 04 corvette cam, springs, and a 100 shot of the NOS brand. This one guy at the shop tried to tell me that the cam i have is too big, i replied "it's not nearly big enough. I know for a fact there's more power in it."

An 04 corvette cam is too much? I wouldn't buy an air filter from that guy.

Can you list the mods you've done to the engine?

Re: untuned 5.3 dyno numbers w/ some nitrous

The camshaft is a LS6 part # 5308 with the .555/.551 lift and 204/218 on a 117.5. Numbers may be a little off but its close. 255 fuel pump, 8.1L injectors, and LS6 valve springs. Everything else is stock, I even still have the truck intake.

The LS6 cam is a big improvement over the LS1 cam, but still pretty mild.

Re: untuned 5.3 dyno numbers w/ some nitrous

im curious, is the 5.3 you dropped in an LM7 or L33, based on the #'s your providing im assuming an LM7, which stock has about 285hp, minus roughly 20% through the drivetrain (230ish hp) add the Ls6 cam, and your at 272hp, so it picked up 44ish hp off that cam alone?? That seems pretty impressive for a fairly inexpensive cam... but maybe its just me...

Headers/manifolds? no other mods at all?? Ive just never seeked out the actual gains from an LS6 cam swap into a 5.3, i knew it was a good upgrade but i was lazy.

Re: untuned 5.3 dyno numbers w/ some nitrous

It's a Lm7. I don't have headers, I know if tuned I could possiblely get close to 300 HP at the wheel. I don't think that Dyno was that accurate. The one guy that was doing the pull didn't run it through the entire rpm band. My car really picks up from 5000-7000 rpm. He stop the pull at 6000. I should get a Ls1 intake as well to free up more top end Going to start my turbo build next month hopefully.

Re: untuned 5.3 dyno numbers w/ some nitrous

Another video this one is a N/A pull, sorry about the horrible sounds and this guy keep talking to me while trying to video. Pretty cool dude. Anyway, the car still needs a tune bad, the car is crazy on the juice. When to the track 1/8th and the car just shut down under nitrous after about 4 secs. And i coasted to a victory of a 04 cobra. Then the it cranked right back up. I think im still flooding it out. This ever happened to anyone else?

I have a feeling there is much, much more in it. My 5.3 with headers/LS6 intake did 285 to the wheels, untuned.

Truck oil pan? Truck accessories? What hood are you running that allows the truck intake to fit?

Its because of your tune. Stock 5.3L with 8.1L injectors? You're crazy.

You would be better off with stock 28/lb LS1 injectors then those HUGE injectors. And are you spraying before the Maf? I hope so.

Not the oil pan, had to use Fbody one and Fbody exhaust manifolds. But everything else is.I'm using a three inch hood cowl. It fits good. But a 4 would have been better. I had to file one of the humps on the alt. down a little. But it fits good now no problems and saved me money. This started as a extreme budget build to have fun in.

Yeah, I brought them because I started with a used turbo build. And one turbo turn out to be bad so I sold.the good one. And got nitrous but I'm going back to the turbos I got one saving for another. But I'm spraying after the maf, I have a wet shot.

dude please don't spray that poor engine anymore before it gets tuned. One nitrous back-fire can ruin a lot of hard work and start a nice fire
