Stock Trans Cooler Lines

Hey guys, the last thing I need to do before starting up my ls1/4L60E combo is attach my trans cooler lines....you're probably wondering why I didn't have them in the bay as I did the swap...and I'm asking myself the same thing lol. But in any case I'm here now with an engine and trans in the bay but no cooler lines. Is it possible to actually snake the stock cooler lines around into place or should I just lift the engine out a bit to do it? I tried a couple different routing paths last night with no luck, the lines would probably bend and break if I forced it.

If you have any recommendations or possibly pictures of your stock 700r4 cooling lines routed to your 4l60e that would be great to see!(i tried search multiple times) Or my other thought was switch to AN like others have done, which could look much nicer and be more manageable in the long run.

thanks!

You can bend them, and probably will have to. Route them from underneat the car in the front over the kmember and back to the trans. Worst case if you do break them, just buy a parts store stick of brake line tubing, it's the same thing.

ok I'll give it another shot, maybe jack the car up more so I have more room to work with! So I will go over the kmember kind of near the oil pan, and both lines will be routed UNDER the motor mounts correct? I wish I had my old pics of the 350 swap with nothing in the bay but the trans/trans cooler lines so I can see how they sat in relation to the mounts. Thanks!

Dont know if it helps you now, but I found this pic of my old 305, and you can see the stock trans cooler lines run under the mechanical fuel pump mounting block, I also remember they have a clip that bolts to the oil pan bolts that holds them against the block on an sbc.

Re: Stock Trans Cooler Lines

for future reference, if anyone needs pics concerning installing stock 700r4 trans cooler lines on the 4l60e for an LS1 swap, i took some pictures and they are in this thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...l60e-85-a.html
