Re: 4L80e Swap
The lowest point on the exhaust is still where the passenger side pipe dips below the frame rail which is the same as it was before. I have only ever hit it once and that was on a chuck of lose asphalt on a back road.
Somehow based on my measurements the driveshaft will be about an inch shorter. The only thing i changed was i added a 1350 pinion yoke, but i wouldnt think that would account for an inch.
The shifter cable and bracket are just what came with my megashifter. I had the bracket mounted and adjusted within a matter of 20 min, it really worked out great.
For the exhaust i just necked it down because i already had the flowmaster cat back so i figured why not just use it because i can just open up the cutout if i need too.

Re: 4L80e Swap
Well i had my parents pick up my driveshaft today and instead of putting 1350 yokes in my old driveshaft and shortening it a bit, the place ended up just making me a whole new one for only an extra 30 bucks! Cant beat that because now i can just sell the old one. Also speed inc called today and the computer is on its way back so its game on for this weekend!! And i got my 2-step

Re: 4L80e Swap
I managed to get everything finished up on friday night and have been out putting some miles on and getting a feel for it. Everything seems to be working great so far but it will take some getting used to not having to shifting all the time. It is only stalling at about 2500 when i put 3400 on the converter build sheet . So i need to decide if i want to pull that back out to have a restall done eventually. Also i need to wire up the transbrake tomorrow and give it a few tests

I used the weight from the last time i had it weighed which should be real close and i gave them all the info on my engine and cam. I just got the transbrake wired up the other day and will pull up to about 3100 on the brake.

Re: 4L80e Swap
Well i got the car out to the track for midnight mayhem and managed to run a 12.05 at 117 with a 1.8 60' on the footbrake. My best after my fuel injection swap was a 12.3 at 116 so it actually did cut a few tenths off. I still dont have a working 2-step so once i get that i should be able to dial in my launch some more and hopefully get into the 11's.

Re: 4L80e Swap
Was just going back through this thread to help someone out with a 4L80e swap and realized i never really updated it.
Once i got the 2-step setup i took it out to the track again. It was deadly consistant with all 6 passes within .01 of each other with my best being 12.03 @119
Also i found a video that a friend put on youtube from the night i got the car running with the new trans. And in my defense the other car was spraying

Holy cow, at Brainerd back in September I was running 12.0's at 112 MPH...
The '57 is getting a 6.0/4L80E/L92-heads set-up when I can get everything together for it. It weighs about 400 lbs more than the Camaro, so it's going to need a little more power to get it down the track as quick as the Camaro.

Re: 4L80e Swap
Yeah this car pulls hard on the top thanks to the 3.50 gear ratio. It only comes through the traps at 5500 rpm. A 3.90 or 4.11 gear would put me closer to my rev limit of 6800 and knock some tenths of my et but its just a street car and i like the MPG's
Now with the upcoming turbo setup im thinking of going to a 3.23
