New Dyno Numbers 782 RWHP, ProCharged LSX Thirdgen
Well, I decided to add a little horsepower to the combo and change a just a few things at a time (albeit on a different dyno). Since I usually get bored and tear the entire thing apart, this is closer to an actual scientific method… Been done before, but I thought you guys might enjoy, after all it is a ThirdGen.
The combo:
408 inch LS
AFR 225 heads, untouched besides AFRs CNC port
ProCharger F-1R on an IndianaMuscleCar.com serpentine drive
Full Exhaust over the axle,
Turbo 400, 3400 stall converter, 9 inch
Changes:
Before: 93 octane: Unported Stock LS6 manifold and ported 78mm throttle body:
741 rwhp 18 PSI boost (Waitformeperformance’s Mustang 250) 9-2010
After : 93 octane: Unported FAST 102 Cathedral Manifold and 102mm NW throttle body:
747 rwhp 16 PSI boost (LPE’s Mustang 50 inch roller) 8-2011
After: VP MS 109 and the line above:
782 rwhp 16 PSI boost (LPE’s Mustang 50 inch roller) 8-2011
I expected to see some greater changes on 93 from the LS6 to the FAST 102. I think it did help, yet the increased HP is hidden in the difference in the dynos. But, to me, less boost with the same power is a win even if the two different dynos were calibrated identically.
I was very impressed to see the results of the unleaded VP MS 109. +35 is pretty sweet with just a little fuel change. Thanks to Brent Malone and the LPE guys for the tuning. Very impressive facility and such a down-to-earth team. J. May

782 HP in a third gen impresses me, but that you did it with a way overpriced ProCharger rather than affordable turbocharging, that just kills my interest. Congrats on the results, I guess, but condolences on getting cheated out of so much $.

Seriously? Because of the fact that he spent some dough to build this car it doesn't interest you?? It's a procharged 408...obviously money was really no object when building this, and I'm sure it's exactly what he wanted. Not everyone wants to build a turbo car. The fact this is procharged makes it that much different. I have yet to see another lsx procharged Third gen. I Absolutely LOVE the car. I have a 91 myself with the almost same wheel/tire setup. Awesome job with it...and ditto on some street footage!

Thanks for all the comments guys!
The great thing about the market today, is that you have a lot of choices when it comes to making power. The thing I love about a ProCharger is that there are so many nice LSx Thirdgens out there, that already have beautiful exhaust systems ran around the transmissions, wiring harnesses done, etc. If someone wanted to bolt on some serious power in a weekend without revamping the exhaust, tapping the oil pan, wiring, etc; they can. That makes it an attractive option.
There is no question if you do your Ebay shopping correctly, you can get a great deal on an imported turbo or maybe even a universal kit. For me, the robustness of a ProCharger, bolt on capability, not to mention the jaw-dropping sound is worth a little extra coin.

Great results and nice car! I wanted to run FI for a while. Was going to go with a maggie or KB or something. But too much other stuff had to change with my setup...so it just wasnt going to happen. Now its REALLY not going to happen haha.
Glad to hear the car runs good! I wouldnt mind seeing some vids of it driving and hear/see how it goes!
