busted another oil pan
so i came to the conclusion that my car sits way to low in the front. i want it lowered but not dramatically. this is the 2nd oil pan that got popped and ls1 pans are not cheap lol. im basically looking for the best set of springs that will look good and be level with the lighter ls1 up front.

Man what kinda roads do you have down there??
Im partial to the Eibach ProKit myself.
This is my 87, which I no longer have...but its the best show I have showing the stance. This is with stock front and rear isolators...no modificiations other than bilsteins shocks/struts and sphon strut mounts.
I NEVER hit even my k-member on anything. I think one time the k-member took a hit from a rock but not too bad. In that pic, my ypipe is haning WAY lower than it is now, and even that was tolerable. Now that that is fixed, I take speedbumps with no issue, and like I said..never hit my pan.

Seriously, where the hell are you driving to destroy pans? I dont think i have ever come close, my exhaust doesnt even scrape with the 24 inch tall runner on the front.

I thought about doing that... Ive built 20 or so various types for jeep builds. I was thinking you coudl go from the bottom of the k-member to the front subframe.
But never really felt it necessary. It is a scary thought having a cast pan though... Thats why the off road guys running LS motors swap to that stamped steel pan.

You just about have to have one if the pan in the lowest point, should be slammin the K member into the ground before you hit the pan.
Though neither is fun, a pan could be cheaper less ya tost the motor. Though a bent up K or sub frame is no fun either.
But sounds like someone needs to just slow down or raise the ride.
Ya can't look like a low rider n still baja down ciy streets like the Duke boys
Some adjustable bags might help to quick raise when its rough then drop when its low n slow or put in the suspension travel stops if thats it, rough driving to low. Or stop doing rock crawls with it

I dont see how you're busting pans either. With the stock K-member they are flush with the bottom. Tubulars hang slightly lower unless you've got a Spohn which could double as a snow plow. Anyways if you're banging the pan, you're also going to be busting the bellhousing because the lowest points are the same for both

Its not the right way to do it but i just cut my stock springs, then you can have whatever height you want.
