3rd gen itch
I havent been on here in a while since i havent owned a 3rd gen in a while but im getting the itch again. I love 3rd gens (i got CAMARO tattoo'd on me in 3rd gen font. anyways my car right now is a 02 z28 6spd and ive had it since my b-day in july 2010. well im bored of it already and wanting a 3rd gen. ive been debating on selling my camaro and buyin a 3rd gen from around $1-1500 or was thinkin of pullin the motor and parting the rest of the car. If i do a 3rd gen i need an auto (sick of stick and my knee cant handle a clutch anymore).
i was reading this thread about the price of the swap and it looks like i can probably make that money in just selling my t56 setup. i have done some swaps already so im not new to it.
what do you guys think i should do?
my past 3rd gens:
87 IROC
82 Z28 Pace car
90 RS
and my current car:

Re: 3rd gen itch
ur current car is kinda ugly on the outside by inside is nice, only thing i like over a 3rd gen in a 4th gen is its got rack and pinion, but i love my 3rd gen over my bros 4th gen, hate to see a good car get parted but yea you'd def make more parting it, if you can find buyers then selling the whole car, good luck

Part out the 4th gen, take the swap items from the T56 and find someone with a 4L60e and swap them. Take the engine, wiring harness, pcm, rims, and whatever other good parts are on the 02 and swap into the 3rd gen. You'll need swap mounts for the engine and trans, the harness, fuel lines, headers, etc (there's probably other stuff I'm forgetting).

Re: 3rd gen itch
it would be nice to part this car out but not sure id be able to get enough money to buy a car. my buddy has a iroc i can probably buy from him but it hasnt been registered in a while and its pretty beat. i figure if i can sell my car for like $5-5500 then i can buy a decent iroc and instead of a ls1 ill do a 5.3L (i have no problem with it since im not buildin a race car, just a cruiser) ive seen a couple complete 5.3's on CL for around $500, trans i think i can get one from my buddy since he has like 4-5 of them.
i was reading that alot of people swap gas tanks to the 4th gen, is that necessary?

Re: 3rd gen itch
I own both a 3rd and 4th gen
I would prefer the LS1 engine but I bought the 95 LT1 because i don't like the front end of the 98-02's. I've redone the 95Z and it moves along quite nicely.
My 89 is in the midst of a restoration. Do you perhaps not like the 4th gen because of the butt ugly front end of the 98- 02's? I think the 93-97's look good.

Re: 3rd gen itch
i dont like the ls1 front end much thats kinda why i changed mine up a little, i do like the lt1 front end a little better but the whole car in general. i feel a clean 3rd gen looks alot better then a clean 4th gen. ive owned 23 differenet cars (mostly f-bodies) and my favorites that ive owned were 3rd gens.
plus i just love how they drive over a 4th gen.

Observations 3rd gen vs 4th gen
3rd gen- to me is more of a camaro "look" and the engine access is not bad
4th gen- engine access is downright awful. It is more of a refined road car than the 3rd gens. heck, my 95 outcorners my 07 stang. I prefer the lines of the 93-97 but the engine from 98-02
