Did SLP add exhaust to the LT1 cars as well? or only the ls1's? That along with the ram-air hood probably was the sole purpose the car gained 25hp. This is all the info I could really add for fact for now. Hope it helps

Re: LT1 - constructive differences

the 'vettes had 4-bolt mains and aluminum heads. The F-twins had 2 bolt mains and the same heads as the 'vette. the Caprices and such had 2 bolt mains and iron heads.
The iron heads do out-flow the aluminum heads, but those aluminum heads can be ported to equal AFR 180 heads, the basic casting is very good to have that much potential.
Differences in power ratings mostly come from the induction and exhaust systems. There were a few different cams used, but the specs were all very similar, and all very tame.
Intake manifolds, pistons, throttle body bores, valves, crankshafts, those sorts of items were all the same.
The '92 'vette was the first year, and didn't have powdered metal rods. The '97 F-twins was the final year, and did have powdered metal rods. There's some disagreement about when these new rods appeared, but they are better. They look very different from the classic rods. They're fine to 6200 with stock bolts, but above that RPM they need ARP bolts. Then they're fine past 7000.

Re: LT1 - constructive differences

350 - The original LT1 came with regular forged 350 rods, that were shot peened for localized hardness under the head of the bolt and nut. Powdered metal rods were phased in for the Corvette around 1994 and used in all of the LT1 engines by 1995. GM made the change because the powdered metal rods were cheaper to make and were much stronger than the GM high performance "pink" rods. In fact, they are supposed to be good for up to 450 hp. They are machined at the parting line so they can be reconditioned.

Here's a good read that tells you most of the differences in the motors, including cam sizes

Re: LT1 - constructive differences

stock PM rods with ARP bolts have proven good past 850 horses in a ProCharged 383.

Re: LT1 - constructive differences

Yeah, this was an from an old article, around 1999 or so, it just told what year the PM rods came out.
