Re: This may top all our 3rd gen LS1 swaps
For decades, crop dusters have been using planes powered by wet-sump big block Chevy V8 gas engines. How is this any worse? If it has enough off-idle torque, which I suppose from the link, we have evidence that it does...
Now we can have that BowTie rumble whichever way we travel, whether by air, land or water.

Funny watching that. I bought my engine from a guy removing it from his plane.

That was kinda interesting to read about the website their whole gig. Does make sense on the question of cornering g-forces in the wet-sump, but that is not really considered a sport plane that would really be able topull that high of gs. Of course there is always the dry sump version they could if it did become a prob. I definatly don't wanna chance falling outta the sky due to doing whoops and having my motor lock up from oil startvation. Be kinda interesting to see.

That website reminded me of a supercharged 383 LS1 that was put into a full carbon fiber bodied airplane several years ago. At the time it was just the fuselage and the engine. Don't know anymore information about it though..

He also rates 87 octane for the higher compression LS3. Wonder whats up with that?

I would be worried because the Gen III+ stuff has reverse flow oiling compared to the old sbc/bbc.

Only the takeoff might be of interest. Cornering and rolling, well, the Corvette oil pan was designed for sustained 1g in every direction.

I'll have to search around, there's a kit plane company that makes a 1/3 scale P-51 mustang that uses an ls1, a guy I went to A&P school with nearly baught one.
