If you find out how to do that to use the Spohn torque arm with the hawks cross member I will pay you to mod mine too. I'll go buy a hawks cross member and send it to you... Dead serious, this is my serious face

Re: 5.3 to ls2 86 camaro
So what are you considering the 'double hump crossmember'?

Re: 5.3 to ls2 86 camaro
I'm very interested to see what you come up with. I can see the passenger side being fairly easy but there has to be some reason no one has made a crossmember with this particular design yet.

Re: 5.3 to ls2 86 camaro
Plans are to make a brace from the top of the driver side "hump" to the front of the driver side "leg" where to bolts to the car and another brace from the back of the "leg" to the lower side of the hump. It should hold up to the torque arm.

Re: 5.3 to ls2 86 camaro
ok here are the plans. crossmember came in today and i want ALL OF YOUR OPINIONS/TIPS.
as you can see in the first photo the spohn torque arm mount fits pretty tight up in the tunnel. plans are to buy a u channel like the original and use one side for the right leg of the mount and the other side to be where the actual torque arm bolts to. and cutting off the left side of the u channel making it basically a 90 degree angle iron. BUT! another brace shall be welded from the rear of the transmission crossmember to the piece holding the torque arm mount to add support. the right side of the u channel gets welded to the trans crossmember and the flat part of the u channel gets welded to the flat part of the crossmember. more than likely im going to weld a complete plate on the side where im cutting the leg off the u channel to make it a solid connection between the crossmember and the u channel. its hard to explain exactly whats its going to look like but im confident it should hold AND give awesome exhaust clearance.

Re: 5.3 to ls2 86 camaro
Have you made a post in the fabrication section yet? Might be a start.
Hmmm...this will be an interesting looking piece when finished. I think my first idea would be to add gussets to each bend in the piece.

Re: 5.3 to ls2 86 camaro
Can you post more pictures of your car at different angles? I'd like to see more of the hood because I'm considering selling my steel cowl to go with one of these to save some weight. Not sure if I like the look just yet, but the Sunoco does match lines nicely with the rest of the native lines to the car.

Nice ride man, I like how you are keeping your upgrades under cover. It is starting to look way too nice to be much of a sleeper anymore though.
That nitrous system is killer. What are you shootin'

Re: 5.3 to ls2 86 camaro
You guys with your nice weather make me sick...we just got 4" of snow today, and it's still coming down.
The new wheels look really good. I LOVED the old ones though, I'm not sure if it's because the car doesn't have ground effects but the smaller wheels seemed to make it look really good. Either way you can't go wrong with either set.

Nice kill on the GT500! Are the 2011's using the new 5.0 block or are they still using the supercharged 4.6?

Re: 5.3 to ls2 86 camaro
New block. 5.0 makes 419 on motor and 556 on spray. Gt500 makes 486 rwhp before the catback was added.
