Looking good blake.
How'd you like that portable blaster? Ive used one of those before, an old one...and it really didnt work for crap. But it could have been busted for all I know.
Did it take things down to bare metal pretty easy? Whats the mess like? Does it seem like a lot of the medium gets wasted just blowing away?

could you use that on the whole car if you were going to strip the paint off, or is that a bad idea?

Re: Blakes LSx swap - pic/vid heavy
ive been looking at the raptor stuff. im going to order tomorrow. do you think 1 kit would do the entire underside? and when its dry can you tell if it provided and sound deadening at all? I was hoping to coat the underside of my car and cut out cabin road noise. I'm doing a sound mat of some sort under the carpet in the interior, but i figure every little bit helps.

Re: Blakes LSx swap - pic/vid heavy
i might have to rethink the raptor liner on the entire underside. i want too, but i have to figure out how to keep it out of holes in the body for brackets, heat shields, suspension parts, etc. I was planning on doing the interior also. I had looked in to fatmat for the car, but now that you say this stuff is better, it would probably be about the same price or cheaper just to buy another kit and spray the interior too before i put the carpet in.

Looks good, but you do know your sway bar and TA bolts are up side down?

the sway bar goes under the rear. there should be mounting "locators" on the rearend for the sway bar brackets you can see the little notch in the sway bar brackets. The torque arm bolts on my stock 4th gen had one pointing down and one pointing up. I figured that both going down, even if you lost the nut, that you dont have to worry about it going anywhere

There are templates but the best method is to put it in the car and drill small holes at the corners of the shifter cup. Remove trans and connect the dots, opening the hole slightly

You mean his front tires? hehe.
Blake...man...youre lucky that didnt get ugly. The reason the k-member wouldnt drop out, was because you had the front springs still pushing it up. Removing the struts like you did without supporting/chaining/compressing the springs was really dicey. If you didnt have your front wheels/tires on there, the a-arms would have probably dropped further and the springs most likely would have shot out, or at least popped out with authority.
When you go to reassemble, You will want to install the k-member bare without the springs or a-arms. It will be much easier to wrestle into place. Unless you are putting the motor in from the bottom. That front end is quite heavy especially with the knuckles and brakes and all still on there.
Either way, you gotta watch those springs. If you are installing lowering springs, re-installing that front suspension will be a lot easier. But Im surprised that didnt get away from ya! Be safe!
That rear axle is looking great. I like the red/silver combo. And the car is coming along nicely! Underside looks awesome. You're going to have a really clean shell to start putting back together when its time.

Re: Blakes LSx swap - pic/vid heavy
That's funny Ghettocruiser, I was going to say the same exact thing about the springs as I was reading down through it, but you beat me to it. I recommend using a spring compressor, but you have to get creative to make it work with the way the stock k-members are on these cars. I had to add an extra nut on my compressor to make it work. I have details about how I did it on my LS1 swap page if you need it Blake. Be safe and keep up the good work. I like how your undercarriage and rearend turned out. Very nice.
