Couple swaps
So i figured you guys might be interested to see a couple swaps go together. One is my 1984 Corvette( i know its not a third gen but its still an LT1) getting an LT1/T-56 swap and the other is my friends 1987 Firebird Formula getting an LT1/T-56 as well. Right now me and my friend are tearing the engines down and replacing components and installing the cam/heads/ etc. This is how they sit at the moment. There is actaully one more LT1 sitting off to the right on a stand(can't see it) but that one ended up having a spun main bearing. So instead of dealing with the added problems it could have or did create we just found another LT1 for cheap. (another project block for down the road.)
I'll keep you guys informed on the progress as it unfolds.

Re: Couple swaps
Ok another update.
Engine is in the Vette and the wiring is going in.
Also i had a custom emblem made by EmblemPros.com. I am very pleased with it. Its brushed stainless steel surround with the red and black colored lettering. Gotta let everyone know what you have under the hood!. Especially if its the "underdog" LT1.
My friend might be getting a similar one. We both like the idea of having LTX somewhere on the exterior of the car.

Re: Couple swaps
Here are a couple pictures of the Firebird the LT is going in. Little rough right now but it will be getting a paint job this winter/spring. Also this Firebird is in very SOLID shape! There is no rust on the body/under-body at all. Basically the perfect project car platform.

Re: Couple swaps
Swapping into the Vette has been surprisingly easy so far. I bought a standalone harness and i'm going to rewire for all my gauges. (I'm doing the digital to analog gauge conversion) Basically is just a lot of little things. I even though converting to a manual and hanging the pedals would be close to impossible but it wasn't really that bad. It was a lot harder than the Camaro swap was but all in all it wasn't too bad. I'm going to run he factory wiring harness with the engine management wiring cut out. I'll wire the body harness for power and ground so all the interior stuff works. Then i'll convert wires from the standalone harness like the fuel pump lead, etc. so that they work with the original harness. I'm sure i'll still run into wiring problems but i'm sure it won't be anything I can't fix.
