vats question
well i got the lt1 to start tonight for the first time since the swap but i still aint had vats or emissions tuned out of the pcm so it starts and idles for about 10 seconds and then shuts off, well i talked to a guy at the local dealership that says he can remove vats and emissions and everything else that needs done for $70 but he says he needs the car and pcm there at the shop,so my question is ,is there any way to bypass vats to get it across town to the shop with a resistor or hot wire the fuel pump or something?,i dont have any of the under dash wiring from the donor car if that matters, any help would be appreciated, thanks, joe

Re: vats question
There's an easy bypass for VATS, but it doesn't control the fuel pump.... just the starter. You may have a ground problem or a short going to the pump.

Re: vats question
The only way to disable the VATs when you dont have the BCM and related wiring is to either tune it out, or hook up a bypass box. If its anything like the LS1 VATs, its a 50hz signal that the PCM needs to see. Plenty of fairly cheap units available on ebay and other sites, or if youre handy you can make your own with some simple parts from radio shack.
However...if its running for a full 10 seconds, that sounds alittle long to be a vats. Vats usually kills the motor within 4 seconds or so. But..I guess it could be...
