The fun never ends... 4L60E
The 4L60E will not shift out of 3rd at partial or WOT. I have no OD.
The damn thing just keeps on reving and the bad part about it is it doesn't even stop when it reaches my rev limiter. Which is set @ 6000RPM on both my MSD box and computer.
I want to try all possible options before taking it to get rebuild.
The only thing I have done to the trans is install a B&M Torque Converter 2400 Stall, change the gasket, filter and fluid and put an oil cooler on it.
I recently installed my 3.42 LS1 rear which I though would help with the shifting because my computer was set for 3.42 gears although I still had 2.73 in the rear. But nothing has changed now it just revs quicker.
Questions:
If my linkage is needs to be adjusted will that have any effect on shifting? Because as of right now my shifter does not go into first (1).
Also the Dk. Blue Wire (Transmission pressure switch signal-Range B) on the A4 harness had mysterious gotten cut. Although, I reconnected it today nothing changed. By me unknowingly driving with that wire cut, could I have possibly hurt my trans?
Any help would be great!
Thanks in Advance,
Jay
Last Questions:
Do you think I should use a shifter & shifter cable from an 94-97 F-body? Since my shifter cable for my 91' does not allow me to shift into 1st?

You need to either use a 700r4 shifter cable with a 700r4 shifter or a 4l60e shifter with a 4l60e shift cable. A 4l60e shifter probably won't fit in a thirdgen center console, the shifter is moved forward a bit supposedly.
I'm not really sure whats going on with your tranny. Did you adjust the linkage cable correctly?

I adjusted the linkage correctly. With both the shifter on the trans and the shifter itself in neutral.
I guess when I reconnected that wire that had been cut it allowed the shifter to go into 1st now.(I guess it had something to do with that pressure switch). Cause after I posted, I went outside just to check to see if the shifter would go in 1st and it did with not problem. So at least that problem is solved. But it still won't shift out of 3rd.
So @ the moment I am more confused then every.

The TCC wire should hook to the brake switch wire, right?
Thanks,
Jay

the lightblue/black wire(C230-H) should go to the brake switch. Have it connected to the correct brake switch? You might have an additional brake switch for thirdgen cruise control.

I have it connected to E7 (Torque Converter Clutch) @ C100. Where else could I connect it?
Thanks,

Re: The fun never ends... 4L60E
Today I went to the transmission shop to have one of the guys take it around and what do you know it shifted making me look like an .
I'm thinking since I reconnected that cut wire that it must okay now. I will continue to drive it and see. Although I still think at WOT the RPMs go way to high.
Firebat,
When you get on your LT1 @ WOT, what RPM does it go up to before it shifts?
Also, do you still think I should try and hook the TCC directly to the brake switch?
Thanks,
Jay

As long as OD works then you shouldn't have to wire it directly.
It will probably shift close to redline or 5800 rpm at wot. If it hits the rev limiter then start worrrying about it.

Re: The fun never ends... 4L60E
I swaped a '96 LT1/4L60E setup into a '92 RS, I have the TCC wire ('92) marked but not connected to anything and haven't found one on the new setup ('96). It shifts to 4th fine and all but did I miss something? I'm not sure if the clutch engages and if it does its alot smoother than any auto clutch I've ever driven.
Any ideas?

chevyowner02 I know this is off topic but how do you like the B&m stall jagevileye21?
OddyseusDSM,
Your TCC wire should be pin H Lt/Blue Blk Wire on Connector 230.

Re: The fun never ends... 4L60E
Update:
The transmission issues seemed to solved. It is shifting good and I can drop the shifter in first with ease. Since everything seemed to be working good, I decided to jump on the freeway to see how it cruised @ highway speeds.
Only to find myself doing 65MPH @ 3800RPM.
Which is way to high for that speed in my opinion. By 80MPH the tach was @ 4500RPM.
This was very hard to believe since I only have 3.42 gears. I should be able to hit speeds excess of 140MPH. My first reaction was maybe I have a bad vacuum leak.
Well, today I tested the vacuum with engine running the vacuum it was steady between 20 & 22Hg. What is the normal condition for an LT1? Also, my service engine soon light keeps coming on mostly @ idle. Could one of my sensors cause this to happen?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jay

My GTA did its WOT upshifts at 40, 75, and right on till redline cause it didn't do the WOT OD upshift. It would upshift about 5,000rpm.

Re: The fun never ends... 4L60E
I'm using the stock PCM and harness to control the 4L60E. I think most of the problem came from a wire being cut on the A4 harness.

No problem... I had my computer reprogrammed to desired shifts points. I would like have more control though... Thats why I plan on doing a T56 swap in the next few months.
