LT1 questions is this normal?
I was board today so i checked my oil for no real reason and noticed that it was high on the dipstick, which worried me because i don't remember it being high last time i checked it. Concered there may be coolant in the oil i pulled the D. side valve cover and notice a little CLEAR water on the rockers and some milky buildup on the valve cover. I then loosened the drain plug. No water came out but the oil seemed to have a funny shade of dark brown. I let the engie Ilde for a little bit with the D. side valve cover still off and the oil that got to the rockers was definately good oil. So am i just paranoid or is there a actaully a problem?
I did leak some coolant on the P. side valve cover the other day while i was rerouting some wires and the heater hose.
Also:
The coolant is clean and green.
The instrument cluster oil gauge reads just below 30 at idle.
Is it normal to have a mismatch between the ECM Vehical speed and what the speedo reads, by about 5 mph at 30?

for some reason the lt1's build up condensation under the vale covers every so often, i have seen that on my engine also, but for the oil being high sounds like you just added to much. but just keep an eye on it just to make sure

Yeah, I agree with Sean. The last couple of times I removed my valve cover there was a little condensation on them. As far as the dipstick reading high mine did the same thing after an oil change. Eventhough, I was certain that I added the correct amount of oil. Just check it regularly to be sure.

It is possible to have different readings from the ECM and what the speedo is reading but I don't know if it is normal.

For the cost of them, it's worth not taking the risk of using old bolts. Some of the LT1's used torque to yield bolts (stretch bolts) and had to be changed.
