Just bought an LQ4 for my swap!!!
I just scored a 100% complete and warrantied LQ4 to swap into my GTA. I'm stoked!!!!! I got an awesome deal on it from a salvage yard in town my friend works at.
I'm going to install it totally as-is and get everything working 100% because I have to worry about a harness, exhaust, A/C, etc.
Then over the winter I'm going to be installing L92 heads with an L76 intake and a nice cam to match. Then the year after I'll worry about the rotating assembly. I plan on a 4" stroke to match my 4" bore for a nice square 402ci
I couldn't afford an LS2 and I had to have the 4" bore for the L92 heads and the LQ4 is simply an iron block LS2 with different pistons for a 9:x compression ratio. The LQ9 is the iron block with the LS2 pistons but they are few and far between because of low production. I can deal with only different pistons and a slightly lower cr. Besides, I can replace the pistons when I do the 4" crank
Now I just have to read up on all the LS2 installs to figure out the harness, exhaust, mounts, A/C, oil pan, etc.

Good score, I'm thinking of going the same way, Car Craft just did a dyno run of a stock used salvage yard 6.0 truck engine and just adding headers and a GM 4bbl intake, 750 Holley they made 425HP on the stock longblock, they then added the GM hot cam and went up to 480 HP. Pretty good numbers if you ask me.

NICE! My buddy just bought one on Friday as well.... Its gonna be SICK though. Twin turbos...
I'm gonna run my 346 for a year or two and search for a 6.0L and do the L92 w cam set up as well. I missed on one three years ago for $900 bucks CAD and it was an LQ4(9?) out of an Escalade. Dang it I've kicked myself numerous times for not grabbing that one. It looked soooo fresh too thats the sad thing. The guy said it only had 12k on it. Ahh well theres always another deal
Good luck on your build bro your gonna luv it

Good score man. Those LQ blocks have just as much potential as the LS blocks if not more, because you can bore these out instead of having to re-sleeve them like the LS. You'll love the power and potential you have with this block. Enjoy
