ls1 swap wiring harness
a buddy of mine and i are looking into swapping an ls1 into a third gen camaro, we've been doing alot of research on the swap parts available for it and i have to say i wish all of this had been around when i did my swap cuz i'd have an ls1 lol... joking aside, we've been looking at the wiring harnesses that advertise they are plug and play, from hawks third gen and fbodymotorsports. i'm wondering who among you guys has used these harnesses and are they actually plug and play? i had to do extensive, i mean extremely extensive work on my wiring harness to get the of my lt1 and the third gen harness to work together, and i really don't want to do it again. so if you guys could tell me all that was involved in getting everything on the harness operational... or if it really was just plug and play. thanks for your answers ahead of time.

if you search around here you'll find that the ls1 harness is almost stand alone as it is. You only have to hook up the dash, and a few other things. It's not easy but with a wiring diagran from both cars you should be able to do it. The harnesses are overpriced and I bet you could pay soemone on here to do it for you for cheaper . Just

You are going to have to do the same thing to the LS1 harness as the LT1 harness. They are not that different as far as the wiring goes. The other harness that you can buy still has to be spliced together. I have done two of them so far and would not pay someone to do it. Hardest part for me was starting the wiring, after that everthing came together and not hard. There are only a dozen of so wires that need to be cut and spliced.

From What i have searched and read about its not hard at all once you have the diagrams. I heard all you really need is 4 wires just to get the LS1 started.... all you really need is a Fuel pump realy, Fan Relay, and i think thats about it really, Starter realy. (If somthing is missing let me know ) You'll be fine. Go to LS1 tech.com they have some great stuff. Also ask mr.dude, really cool guy.

Personally i think the plug and play setups are a waste of money, 650-700 bucks for an easy wiring job! no way! The LS1 engine harness is all on the engine except for the guages and power. There will be one wire from the computer that you connect to the big 10ga pink wire comming out of your firewall (ignition) which turns everything on and then u connect your oil press. water temp, speedo, tach, fans, etc.. its very easy wiring, i can understand if u had to rewire relays, ingnition, rework the ls1 harness but you dont, its for teh most part a stand alone unit. take that 6-700 dollars and invest it in a cam and springs and maek the ls1 really come to life!

All of the info for the wiring is on THIS board, do some searching and you will be able to do it. I would of had a lot harder time if it wasnt for TGO, all of the schematics and info are here and you dont have to spend 200.00 on service manuals to get it done.
