ls1 gas tank or no
i want to run a return style fuel system because its way better than the ls1 returnless style. i plan on using a walbro 255 pump, now here's my problem, i will be swaping an ls1 dash and guages, will the ls1 fuel guage work with the stock gas tank/sending unit? if not how did u get it to work?
I see alot of guyz just using teh ls1 gas tank, i'd rather not, i plan on modding this engine heavily and the returnless system is not the way to go

It's actually not truely "returnless" the FPR is at the fuel tank on the LS1 and there is a return, all you need to do is tee the return line and you now have a return system. Besides, the guys who mod the LS1's in the 4th gen cars don't have a return coming from the engine bay, and I know of quite a few running 400+ hp out of them with just a Walbro 255lph pump.
**EDIT**
I think this thread has some very good pics of what needs to be done

The stock sending unit will not work with the LS1 Gauges. 3rd gen sending unit uses a signal of 0 Ohms at empty and 90 Ohms at full. The ls1 tank uses different number of ohms. ccording to a post on ls1tech.com the LS1 sender reads 33 Ohms empty and 270 Ohms full.
I know that you can get an aftermarket gauge for the 3rd gen sender and just use that. However i wasn't able to find any after market gauges to work with the LS1 sending unit. Connecting the LS1 tank to the third gen stock gauges is the main thing that holds people back from swpping the tank in with the LS1.

I C I C makes sense now, thanks for the reply. Well i desided i'm gonna swap in the ls1 tank, it'll be a return system like i want in the end, and it'll work with my LS1 dash that i bought as well. Cant wait to get my car out of storage and get going in this swap, the parts are accumlating and making me anxious ha
