v6 fuel pump & LT1 swap
I tried searching for a while and came up with plenty of stuff about carbed cars but not much of anything for fuel injection. I am going from an 89 2.8L (fuel injected) to a 1995 LT1 (fuel injected) that I am buying from someone on this board. The question I have is does the stock v6 fuel pump that I currently have supply enough fuel pressure for the LT1 or will I need to drop the tank and get a different fuel pump? If I do need a new pump should I just get a stock one or is there a better one that someone can suggest. I am going to start pulling out the v6 over labor day weekend hopefully! Yesssssssss!

the LT1 needs like 40 psi of pressure... do some research and see wat urs is. You can just use a tpi fuel pump too, dont needa use the LT1
Hope this helps

you can use the stock TPI pump, which I believe is the same as the V6 pump. but if you have any plans for mods down the road, you'd be better off getting a good pump now and not have to deal with the tank down the road

Well I just got back from the dealership and found out the following information:
LT1 needs 41-47 psi (stock)
2.8 v6 needs 40.5 to 47 psi (stock
This information may be helpful to whoever uses the search feature from now on.

Best thing to do, get a Walbro 255lph and put it in there, that way if you mod the car down the road, you won't be kicking yourself in the butt having to drop the tank again to swap out the pump.

Fuel pressure is not controlled by the pump, your stock pump will make 110 psi if you just plug up the return line. Your fuel pressure regulator will govern your fuel pressure, unless your pump won't keep up then you'll have less pressure. Basically your V-6 pump won't have enough volume to keep up with the LT1, like mentioned earlier go with the walbro 255, it's about the same price as a stock TPI or LT1 pump and will support over 500 HP. For comparison sake, I think your V6 pump flows somthing like 80 LPH vs the walbro's 255.
