Re-upholstering AQ9 seats

Re-upholstering AQ9 seats
I believe I have a set of AQ9 front seats and a set of Trans Am split rear seats that I’d like to reupholster with product from ACME sourced at RockAuto.
My concern is getting the correct match of upholstery.
I’m committed to the AQ9 as they offer the most support and more adjustment than any other factory seat. My mind is set on fabric over leather or vinyl (t-top no a/c car).
I believe Acme part number U402-898L should be correct aside from regal velour not being the correct fabric.
Clearly the black plastics aren’t correct but they are damage free and won’t look out of place with the black dash and door pulls.
My search returned only 2 instances of AQ9 reupholstery I’d appreciate hearing from some folks who’ve done it.

It's not the first time the lunch box showed up in his posts. I love those!

I have the same issue on AQ9 seat upholstery. There only fabric that is readily available is chino velour thru Hawks Motorsports. I've seen this fabric up close and I'm not sold on it. If you get it and install it, please document it and reply with pics.
Good luck

The star of my threads apparently. Sport tuned motor, hydraulic shocks, 5th shock mod, full ball bearing gear unit, couple ounces of wheel weights over the front axle.
If only my Trans Ams seating were so well sorted.

We're terrible, he just wants help w his seats and all we can talk about is old school RC cars!
Tamiya still sells these kits!!!!
by the way, I met a guy who does upholstery while painting my trans am. He made me new door panels. The matched the door panels to my carpet and corbeau seats. He made the match perfect. You may want to look into an upholster who can match the material well.
maybe he can make some cool mini seats for the lunch box too!!!!

Ida offered help, but I've never seen the fabric in person, only the faux leather. Forgot to mention that!

Are you wanting to get a seat upholstery set to do your AQ9 front seats and the rear split folding seatbacks and seat bottoms? Or you trying to get a front set to match your rear seat set?

Re: Re-upholstering AQ9 seats
The only website I could find was RPUI since it appears PUI was bought out by classic industries. Any contact info out there?

What are you trying to match? The Pallex fabric? The 85-86 two-tone color scheme?
GTA seats were never available with a two-tone color scheme, so you're not going to find any readymade seat covers for those seats with such a color option. I believe 85-86 two-tone seat covers are available for the rear seats and deluxe front seats, but you'd probably have to go straight to the manufacturer of the seat covers to see if they'd do it for GTA seats. Even so, it would still be with one of their standard fabrics, not OE Pallex fabric.
As for the Pallex fabric, IF some still exists, then custom shops are likely to be your only hope of finding some, because they have sources that you aren't likely to find through internet searches. And IF you find some, then I'd be surprised if the places that offer ready-made seat covers will let you send your own fabric to them. But here, again, you'd have to contact them directly to find out.
So, again, simplest and best solution is likely to be a custom shop for the whole project, unless you're willing to settle for the available options.
