Power Seat track stuck
Hello I have an 87 iroc with a power seat. I'm trying to take the seat out and I can't get to the bolt because I can't move the track forward or backward. I don't know if there is no power to it or if the track is stuck. No rust really. How do I go from here? Thanks Chris

Re: Power Seat track stuck
In my experience you can get to the rear bolt using a ratcheting wrench, even if the seat is all the way back. It's a giant pain, but it does allow you to get the seat out. You can also unplug and seat and test for power and ground without pulling the seat out. If it isn't getting power or the ground isn't working you can troubleshoot from there without having to take the seat out. If you look under the seat with a flash light you should be able to see a white connector with a rather thick orange and black wire coming out from a hole in the carpet. That is the power/ground for the seat track.

Re: Power Seat track stuck
Nice photo of the power seat harness Mantaguy. I recently pulled a power seat at the salvage yard. I thought perhaps that even if my car didn't have the power seat, the wiring would be there; NOT! So I drove back to the yard the next day to retrieve the harness that you so graciously posted above.
For the OP, the motors in the seat have built-in circuit breakers which will reset on their own. So if the seat isn't working, I would check wiring. The orange wire is hot all the time per my shop manual.
