Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
$175 + $15 return shipping. It took about 2-3 weeks from shipping mine out to receiving the rewrapped wheel.
Don't forget to add $70 for a new horn button because your old one looks like crap on a "new" wheel.

Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
I ordered mine from the place in Dallas and it was worth every penny. I was actually thinking of ordering another one in alcantara and selling my new one. If they will do it for me. I highly recommend them.

Subscribing to this thread. I need to have a early firebird wheel redone. I contacted Pelton earlier today. They asked me to send some pics. Waiting to hear back now.

I had a couple IROC/Z28 steering wheels refurbished by Chuck Pelton several years ago, they still look fantastic today.

I did my own almost 2 years ago, and still holding strong. Not show worthy, but better than it was.

Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
Need to have my 82-84 wheel redone. Been researching as well... most seem to be around the $300 mark for sites that specialize in it.
I see some locally on Craigslist but who knows what kind of quality job you'll get.
Hoping more people chime in!
Veaceonee, how bad was it to get the stitching tight? Wondering if I can order a kit and try it!

Another number might try is for Alangun leather in Plantation Fl. 800 780 4500 or 875 0606. For the wheel re-do.

People are generally wayyyy to cheap to have it done. We charge 300+.. It's not worth touching for less..

Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
Ok, I was told by an owner at Camaro Fest that he traded his wheel and button plus 160 with Chuck. But that was a year ago and he sounds back logged now. I fly using the center post mostly so the leather is still good in the 84-Z. This leather did have a flatter black shade to it distinct from the shinny original however it was a well done sewing job. Perfect I would say.

Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
Chuck Pelton just did my wheel a few weeks back. He had it done in a week, contact him to see how quickly he can do it, but there was no back log when he redid my wheel.

Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
? Was it the shinny OEM leather or more of a flat black shade. ( which I liked when I saw it new on another car).

Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
Chuck's diff in price may be due to having a core or buying one from him already refurbed.Ive had two done by him both were under $175 (w/core).Back then he would buy cores from you.So you could drop your price even more.Dont know if he does that anymore, but my leather is still holding up great after several years.

Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
If you guys want to redo your steering, I made a post on another forum on how to do it cheaply.
On page one you see how I did it for my GN and page two using the same technic I did my GTA wheel.
Its not absolutly perfect has a rewrap would be, but for me, its plenty good for now.

Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
I used krazy glue, sand paper (various grits) and SEM dye on my GN wheel.
And on my T/A I had to used a bit of leather I had.

Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
The only new car I've ever owned was an 83 Z and it had a shiny black leather steering wheel as does the 84 that I've driven for 18 years. Why I ask.

Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
That's a really nice looking wheel from craftcustoms though whenever mine needs re-done I well likely see Chuck for that under 200 fix. Always did keep the dash and wheel covered from the Sun.

For verification I tried Chuck some time ago @ 586-677-2719 and heard a greeting there.

Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
When Chuck did mine, it was only himself and one other person there when I dropped it off. I had initially contacted him through eBay, he replied with a phone # to call. Try this, it was what he answered in November, when mine was done.

Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
It would be best to just contact him to ask. His phone # is in a previous post of mine or you can contact him through eBay, but he'll probably just reply with "call me"

Do you have any horn button assemblies available? I just bought a very nice 84 wheel, but it's missing the horn button. I've heard good things about your stuff so I thought I would check with you first.

Re: Rewrap and refurb Steering Wheel
I'm getting ready to send my wheel to Chuck Pulton tomorrow...
I finally found an extra wheel. I hate having a car that I can't drive/move for an uncertain amount of time.
I'll post it when I get it back....
