FIREBIRD / CAMARO REPLACEMENT CARPET. WHICH COMPANY????

I am going nuts trying to find out which company I should trust to get the best fitting and highest quality carpet for my 89 formula. If anyone has any positive experiences replacing their carpet, please add to this thread with pics and descriptions of the manufacturer and best place to order , etc. I have not seen a thread on this topic. thanks in advance!!

For the most part, everybody sells ACC. They're really the only game in town, so base your decision on price and customer service. Fortunately, ACC stuff is good stuff. If you're looking for a premium quality carpet, deal with an ACC seller that is familiar with their Essex line.
PM me if you want any more details.

If you haven't seen a thread on the topic, then you're not digging at all. They are all over. The best carpet available is from ACC and I think they are the only one making full kits for our cars. Contact Jim85IROC on the forum for a quote.

Re: FIREBIRD / CAMARO REPLACEMENT CARPET. WHICH COMPANY????

Unfortunately, the colors ACC has really don't match the original. I got a bunch of samples from them to match up the carpet in my 82 TA which is charcoal. The ACC version of charcoal has a tint of red in it. I also got a bunch of different samples of other dark grey from them and the best match was 912 Ebony. It wasn't perfect, but acceptable. I am matching this up to the carpet in my car where it was under the door sill, so it is the closest to the original color.
I also got samples to try and get mats made up for my 1989 TTA which has Beechwood colored carpet. They have absolutely nothing that matches that. I got samples of the Cognac color that suposedly is their version of Beechwood and it is too dark. I also got a sample of their 7037 which is their version of Doeskin and it is a poor match. They really need to make better matches for our cars.
We can't restore or maintain them properly with the wrong colors.

They may not be exact, but thete are colors that are very close. It's an unfortunate fact of life that the OEM materials and dies are long gone, and we're lucky that the aftermarket color selection for carpet is as good as it is. OEM colors varried so much from one lot to the next that the aftermarket could never match them all.

Re: FIREBIRD / CAMARO REPLACEMENT CARPET. WHICH COMPANY????

Thanks to everyone for the advice. Im just getting black carpet for passenger area. The companies like stock interiors have a lot of negative feedbacks with mal fitting horror stories. I may end up ordering directly from acc on their website.

Re: FIREBIRD / CAMARO REPLACEMENT CARPET. WHICH COMPANY????

I am 99% sure if you buy their stuff it is ACC anyway. Look for a place that has the best price and service. It's a monopoly. There is only 1 company making carpet for thirdgens, and if you buy it direct you will pay more.

Re: FIREBIRD / CAMARO REPLACEMENT CARPET. WHICH COMPANY????

I replaced my rear black carpet (had sun fade and damage) with an ACC carpet from a distributor off ebay.

Colour is an exact match and the ACC quality is top notch right down to the underpadding.

Buying direct from ACC is the most expensive place to buy it. Any reseller will be cheaper.

Re: FIREBIRD / CAMARO REPLACEMENT CARPET. WHICH COMPANY????

Thanks! I am actually gonna order my t top car complete weather strip kit from 1Aauto, so i will go ahead and order my carpet from there at the same time. BTW that red and black interior looks sweet!! I was all about an all red interior until i got my Maui Blue Formula, which would look kind silly with red interior. So i am going with mostly black, some gray interior. Corbeau seats. Thanks to everyone. i think I found my definite answer.

Re: FIREBIRD / CAMARO REPLACEMENT CARPET. WHICH COMPANY????

Red looks outstanding when it's in good shape. Thirdgens with red interiors get a bad reputation because they really look like hell when they get old, worn and faded, but they POP when they're as nice as that one.
