Re: Consensus On Dash Pads
I found a dash pad with a small crack (smaller than a penny) from a junkyard for $20 and rest of it no cracks, how much you think it's worth if I were to sell it, its perfect condition except the really small crack in corner on driver side.

Re: Consensus On Dash Pads
It all depends on who wants to spend money on a already damaged item, maybe somebody that wants a project.I don't think your going to get much more of what you paid for it,because their is going to be shipping involved also at about $50 $70.

So.........A number would be nice, and no need to remind me it's "already damaged", I just said that

Re: Consensus On Dash Pads
Third, place the cover on the pad and place something with a little weight so it will adhere to the pad, then let it sit overnight or at least 8 hours .It has to be at least 60 degrees,in my case it was in a garage with the heat on 70.

Now you're cooking!
I'm really curious about the front edge and even under the front edge. Does it wrap completely around it and do you glue underneath?

I only ran adhesive along the edges on top,the fit is real tight and the front lip wraps tight underneath, very snug.

Re: Consensus On Dash Pads
It looks decent enough...
I sure appreciate your pictures and hope some of the others who recently purchased will share their experiences too. I'm a bit away from needing to purchase my replacement but have been looking at the entire pad from hawks.

Re: Consensus On Dash Pads
my old dash had velcro strips attached to it and there is no getting it(velcro) off the dash, however with the new 3m strips, im sure there is another way even if not, two small strips when you take it off are not bad. better than the cracks

Re: Consensus On Dash Pads
I have an 89 IROC without any cracks on the dash. I have a dash cover from Dashmat which I remove and clean my dash and then cover with Pledge about every 3 months. The Pledge keeps it supple and the dash cover keeps the sun off the dash.
http://www.dashmat.com/
F.Y.I., I found a dash pad with no cracks for sale down here in Fort Worth, TX on Craigslist. Not sure of the color but if you need one for 75 bucks here it is.

I hope this helps someone.

Re: Consensus On Dash Pads
My dash from Rick's Camaro came in on friday. it looks great, the cell pattern is identical to the stock one.
Only gripe i have, is there are not screw holes in the cap for the front mounting to the firewall. Im going to drill those holes so if i ever need to remove the dash in the future, i can.
I'll take some pictures today of how it looks out of the box and covered on the original.

I didn't have any issues with the screw holes, are you installing the cap out of the car or in it.

Re: Consensus On Dash Pads
problem.. if you do, the cap will cover the screws, and if you used the glue/bonding agent near the edges like it says to, you will glue the cap over the screws, making it very hard to ever remove the dash, should you ever need to. Like if you need to get to your speakers or vents..
which is why i will drill the hole for the screws, that way i can glue around them, and remove the dash without issue in the future.

Re: Consensus On Dash Pads
For the carpeted dash cover, they just stick down with some Velcro strips, but I didn't use them, I just layed it up there and it hasn't moved.

Re: Consensus On Dash Pads
It bothers me too,but that crack bothered me more.I can live this until the end of this coming summer and maybe Classic will have the OER in stock. Hopefully they might have them before summer, then I can swap this out and sell it.I'm saving the huge box and packing this came with.

Re: Consensus On Dash Pads
Ain't that nuts, but then again it's not 20 something years old,it's new, fresh. You could spend that kind of money on constantly replacing these old dried out ones that cost at least on average a couple hundred $$$ w/shipping and crack on you within a year,It don't take much to crack the old ones. Believe me I know(I'm on my 3rd)
I'm ordering one when the TA dash pad becomes available.
