Automatic transmission plate parts
Can anyone tell me where I can get or what the proper name of the ribbed shifter cover seal. Mine finally broke from old age. I doubt it can be found anywhere as a seperate piece, but if it can be, I'd sure like to pick one up.

Re: Automatic transmission plate parts
Probably have to buy an entire plate from Hawks or Thirdgen Ranch.
But - you can make your own! I hated the ribbed one - collects too much dust and too hard to clean. I took a plastic portfolio from the art supply store ($6) and cut one out, drilled the hole for the shifter. Nice black, small texture (like other components), and smooth (no dust collection).

Re: Automatic transmission plate parts
I had also considered making my own and I will if I simply cannot find a replacement, but I do sort of like the ribbed one, myself. Then again, I just really like keeping my cars appearing like they did when new, with some exceptions...
Then again, I'll pounce on a hurst dual gate if I ever find one again (passed one up for 400 because I didn't have this car at the time, doh!) in which case, I won't be needing this piece anymore. Wishful thinking.

Re: Automatic transmission plate parts
You have a box full of the ribbed, slide in pieces or a box of the full plates themselves? If you have some of the slide ins in great shape how much would you want for one or two of them?

Re: Automatic transmission plate parts
How about 10 dollars shipped for one or 15 dollars shipped for the pair

Re: Automatic transmission plate parts
I'm using one from my 86 Camaro. It's got alittle curve to it and it's smooth.
