Under the dash light holder?

Under the dash light holder?
When I removed my kick panels, i found this little light bulb holder inside the frame section of my Camaro. I did a search of the part number but found nothing other than its description. I have the OEM BOSE kickpanel speakers so they cover the light bulb hole that is in the underdash panel that hides all the wires and steering column. So can someone direct me to where this little base/holder mounts? Thanks guys.

As far as where it goes, I've got no idea. Lol. Was there wiring still there for it? It appears to take a 194 bulb. It also looks the same as the bulb holder for the courtesy lights on either side.

I don't recall. Ill check today though. It does hold a 194 bulb. But on the panels that cover the underside of my dashboard have the factory cut-outs for the 194 bulbs. But I can't use those because my factory Bose kickpanel speakers block the holes.

Re: Under the dash light holder?
Well now I'm stumped
You could always wire it into the other light down there and use a dremel to make a small hole in your kick panel for a light with a cover. Then it'll still go on and off when you open the door and should work with the interior switch. Ask around on here for a cover for the footwell lights. I'm sure someone parting out their car would have some.

Re: Under the dash light holder?
That's very interesting. I've never seen the bulb mounted next to the hood latch like that in that thread you've posted.

hey guys- what about cars w/o ac. cars I seen in the yards (with out ac) = no hush panels, me thinks because of the vent cans . big one on the driver side. seems to be more common on base cars too. (no panels) you see them out there more so when you zero in on them.

Re: Under the dash light holder?
I couldn't get your photos to open, but I'm going to take a guess; look under the steering wheel, where the fuse box is. To the left of the fuse box, recessed in the plastic housing, will be a small hole for the bulb to stick out. There is a holder that is there and you simply push the bulb in. The bulb goes on when the door opens or the interior lights are activated. Coincidentally, I was just under my dash a few minutes ago and noticed this holder (missing a bulb until I put one in). Hope this helped.

Re: Under the dash light holder?
It all makes sense now. My IrOC came with the Bose kickpanel speakers. These speakers cover the buld holder hole that is in the hush pane (passengerside). So when I was inspecting my kickpanels last year, I found the little holder insidde the kickpanel area. I didn't have a hush panel until I hit the junkyard. I guess the PO took off the little plastic L-bulb holder. So my IROC may of never had these hush panels due to the Bose kickpanel speakers. Problem is that I don't have a L-holder for the passengerside. Bummer. Atleast I know where the L-holder goes now. I may take a dremel tool and modify my hush panel because the bulb holder hole is currently being used as a mounting base for my hatch glass release (push button).

Re: Under the dash light holder?
The kickpanels each have a small hole where that bulb holder gets attached to.I actually have a pair of them around here somewhere that I pulled from a set of junk yard kick panels.I believe you got those if your car didnt come with the underdash hush panels

Re: Under the dash light holder?
I just looked under my dash column. To my amazement, on both sides, there is a small hole next to the hood latch. So its confirmed. My Bose kickpanels once had the courtesy lights mounted to it. As far as whether my IROC left the factory with or without hush panels, I don't know.
