Re: texture paint?? any suggestions?
nope. there are hammertone and crinkle finish paints, and a basic sand type texture paint, but none are a dead on match to the stock plastics that i've ever seen

im not picky about dead on but i tried one texture paint and it seemed like too much texture it was like canyons instead of slight wrinkle finish

Duplicolor make some. But like you when I used it, it had good spots and thick spots. I think you just have to shake the holy sh*t out of it and then it seems to get better.

I used a Krylon crinkle on a project box that I put a clock into, I think it turned out well.

SEM makes a texture paint that can be sanded. This allows you to get the desired height of peaks that you want. I've used it on my shift plate and then covered it with the landau black SEM paint. I was very impressed at how much it looks like a factory piece. I will try to get some pics posted in a day or two.

Re: texture paint?? any suggestions?
I actually took textured high density polystyrene board from a local DIY (also for a radio delete panel. Not sure what will go there, but possibly only an LED for the car alarm and some toggles for the fans)
Will make a picture as soon as I get daylight and my car together.
The high density styrofoam, can be cut with scissors, filed down, sanded, painted (with appropriate paints), and it's fairly easy to drill holes in it as well, and comes in black and with the exact same texture as the rest of the interior plastics.
I haven't tried glueing yet but with the right glue it should be possible.
I actually used the same stuff to create a replacement airdam and it seems to do well there as well.
Not sure how it will wear however, as it is technically still polystyrene foam. It's on the car for about a year now and still looks fine.
