'91 RS ignition switch spring problem

I have several problems in my steering column at the moment, probably stemming from the tilt being loose for an extended period of time. I am currently replacing my ignition cylinder, but also have a problem with the ignition switch. Can you offer me advice as to where the small spring/wire that the switch comes with is supposed to go?? I know that the end with the small crook gets mounted on a small bolt down by the turn signal switch.. but what is the rest of it supposed to do/be attached to? It's taken me a while to get all this stuff off, and i don't want to put it back together wrong. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
