Locking panel in trunk, with wire leads o.O??
What is this thing for, it has a bunch of wire leads in it, also its lockable??
And another question, I heard the t-tops when removed can be locked down in the hatch somehow so they dont roll around back there, I can not for the life of me see any way to do such a thing...

There is supposed to be a cardboard "box" like structure behind the compartment, its just storage. The wires are for your taillights, they arent supposed to be visible. The T-tops go in a bag, which straps down to the 4 metal mounting points.

No, they're deffinitely not tail light wires, because 1, I can visibly see the tail light wires if I look for them, my tail lights work, and these aren't not wires that run through the box, they're leads that go into it, there is nothing connected to them on this end...I'm suspecting they might have been for subs, but the car doesn't have any, it's the only thing I can think of though...
As for T-tops looks like I need to get a bag then..

Than I need a pic. The only wires that run there from the factory are the taillight wires, and on the earlier models, a wire that ran to the fuel tank. They are most likely wires from an old sound system, though.

Re: Locking panel in trunk, with wire leads o.O??
prob sub wires. here are the wires leading to trunk in an 85 TA.
the t-top locking you are thinking of is only in 4th gen f-bodys as their t-tops are smaller to fit in the well in back.
im actually going to make a custom box the tops will lock into as i find the t-top bag set up kinda cheesy and i almost always run w/ tops off.

Here is a t-top bag for sale on ebay--$44 shipped. The straps attach to the hooks you have in your trunk--keeps the t-tops locked in place.

You're also going to need to find the hooks for the t-top bag. If there aren't any behind the tail panel as well (what the 2 slits that are on either side are for), you'll need to pick up all four of them. There will be 2 pairs, a tall set and a short set, the short set screwing to the gas tank hump. You'll see a pair of holes on each side of the hump about 2/3 of the way towards the seat from the rear well. That's where the hooks go.

Re: Locking panel in trunk, with wire leads o.O??
I would guess on a CD changer. The larger ones are data wires used to communicate between an HU, CDC, and either a Sirius, XM, or iPod adaptor box. If you pull more panels, you might find hidden goodies, especially if the PO or whomever was too lazy to pull out the DAT cabling.

Re: Locking panel in trunk, with wire leads o.O??
I thought as much, wish I knew where the other ends were, might be able to just use those things when I finally get around to finishing the audio system...so far I wired in cd player and some 6x9s, still got to get some 4x6s in though...but atm working on other areas of the car..
I know one of the PO's had put JVC speakers in, cause the front had 4x4 speakers in it, but mounting plates for 6x9s, plus the speaker leads had been spliced with different speaker wire. They were old, crappy and low watt speakers though, one of them blew up after about 1.5m of godsmack, lol.

Re: Locking panel in trunk, with wire leads o.O??
Well the stock radio was in there, can't remember if the wires had splicing or not though but it didn't appear to have been removed, though I guess it probably was if they had all that in there, But it didn't have any kind of adapter plates or anything in it...usually people leave those in I would think, since they're a pain to get out and won't fit a diff type of car anyway.
What is an HU or CDC? And I don't think anything else was left, all my trunk panels aren't attached so much as they are just kind of sitting there...but I'll have to double check that nothing else is in there.

HU: HeadUnit
CDC: CD Changer
Some adaptor boxes can be hidden under the console, seats, even in some of the space behind the dash. I hid my iPod adaptor under the console.

Hmm, shouldn't part of it be visible though? And I actually figured out the acronyms on my own after I thought about it a minute, lol. Going to have to practically rip apart my interior now to see if anything good is in there, lol.

Re: Locking panel in trunk, with wire leads o.O??
Nothing except the adaptor cable for whatever device (iPod adaptor, for instance, maybe nothing for things like Sirius and XM adaptors) may be visible if installed properly. My roommate (while I was in school) had a Kenwood a buddy and I installed into his car with the iPod adaptor. The only visible part of the install was the cable for the iPod. We hid the adaptor box and the cables in the huge space behind the HU and HVAC controls (he has/had a Kia, the interior of which is mostly empty space behind the dash).
