B&M Shifter
Does anyone have any pics of the B&M Megashifter that what made for 3rd gen f-bodies in there I would like to see how it actually fits not just the picture that B&M gives

I was gonna put that in mine when i get the money too, i think there are some pictures if you search B&M shifter on the forums, ive seen the pics around just cant remember where.

Did you have to cut out the whole shifter plastic to get it to fit? or did you just install the shifter and the boot kinda fit in the old shifter spot? you know what i mean?

battman I have a question for you.
Does your shifter always have a small amount of play it in the handle assembly? I'm not talking to the point where you mistakenly thought you just shifted a gear, but my handle assembly has always had just a small amount of back and forth play if you move it. I was wondering if this is normal so I know whether to repair the hack job a PO did or just replace the whole shifter.

to answer all your questions:
the door panels i made myself. it was pretty easy actually. i did all the work except putting the vinyl on. i took the panels to a local custom radio shop for that because i knew the spray can adhesive wouldn't hold up.
to install the shifter i had to cut a rectangular hole in the shift plate. i might have a cut shift plate in my garage. i'll check today and try to post a picture.
my shifter has no front to back play, but it does have some side to side play. it doesn't sound like i have as much play as zraffz described though.

the B&M megashifter works fantastic. you should have no slop front to back. this show's one in my Z28. with Nos Button and line lock.
the worst thing is the chrome on the T handle will not hold up to driving,,

aahh ok, i thought you meant the chrome handle would come off and that kinda contradicted the whole fantastic shifter comment, but what you are saying is that the chrome paint comes off the handle over the course of shifting and just use?

i think i got gypped...
my handle is pure plain un-coated aluminum.
i am always taking it off to polish it.
i would really like to have it clear anodized but thats just $$$ i dont have
last week my red paint surrounding the b&m logo came off as one big piece... bad day!
my shifter moves front to back about an inch in p-r-n-d, but not in 3-2-1... i guess its just getting worn out (after only about 2 years eek)

I've had two BM shifters. They both have play. My first BM was a universal and the play wasn't very noticeable and it worked good and I liked it. Now the one I have in my Firebird is very sloppy and the bracket it uses allows a lot of side flex, so much that I can toggle the reverse light and park switches by pushing on the shifter sideways with little force. Unless you really want the ratcheting shifting style of BM I do not recommend buying it

First off let me Fix what i posted..
the Chrome Plate finnish is getting thin. in the place my pulm sits/rest. when driving..see Photo Above.. AND that Handle dose not come with
the Shifters... it's sold By B&M.. but it has the Button on it.. and comes Chrome plated..
all B&M shifters will have some play. side to side. (we will get to that)
it's the front to back play.. that it may have if not in Just right..
diff trannys and cars... but they make them so you can fix about any slop front to back..
now the side to side slop.
most the time it's the bolting it down..the Body Pan (floor) could be flexing.
always make sure you use the right Bolts.. and washers..B&M dont always use the Bigger STUFF.. but you can.. making it less sloppy. you can also add a piece of Good sheet steel under the floor or inside the Care to stiffin it up when bolting into it...
when you have time.. sit in your car and look at it close.. with the Cover off and move it side to side ..fron to back.. check it out.. it Can Be fixed.
