trunk motor compatibility

Car: 89 firebird
Engine: 2.8 mpfi
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: stock
trunk motor compatibility

ok firs of all i did do a serch and couldent find eny thing the trunk motor on my bird broke that is to sat the plastic part on the bottom broke and i finaly found one to swap it out but its from a 90 or so camro and i was wondering if i could just chank out the track and all or if i just replace what is broken the one i pulled is in better shape looke lke the previous owner replaced the tracks and all but i dont know if it will fit advice would be helpful thanks

Look up Top Down Solutions in the search. or TDS. One of those probably the first one will give you info on most of the info you need.

1986-87 is constructed slightly differently but is functionally interchangeable with a 1988-early 91 unit. You can use most of the parts from a 88-early 91 to repair yours. Of course I sell all the parts to rebuild yours better than new. The late 91 has a tan-colored molded plastic frame and has just one part in common with your pull-down unit (the gear nut).

Download the instructions for the 101170 aftermarket nylon guides from the lower left-hand side of my site under "documentation" so you'll know how to properly disassemble and repair it. Or download the Tech Article for repairing the 1986-91 pull-down units I wrote that is posted here on TGO.
