Interior plastic paint stripper?
Anyone know of a safe chemical or way to remove paint from interior plastics? The previous owner rattle canned my gray interior plastics with black paint and it has runs on it and looks like ****.

Well i dont know of any plastic strippers but ive seen a guy that very lightly sand blasted them, and i mean REALLY lightly lol. it turned out very good, even had the same texture when he was done.

Re: Interior plastic paint stripper?
If you use a sandblaster, make sure you use the plastic media. My friend used an aircraft stripper to strip all of the paint off his rear bumper cover. It stripped it right to the bare plastic and didnt hurt it at all. He says it is meant for plastic and wont hurt it. You can find it at autozone, pep-boys, etc. When you get it, try it on the back of one of your panels first, to make sure it dosent hurt it, it shouldnt.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: Interior plastic paint stripper?
I do have a jug of aircraft stripper in the garage. Ill try that on an inconspicuous area and keep and eye on it while its does its stuff. It worries me because the rear bumper is urethane which is different then the interior plastic material. Ill post back with my results though

Best you can do is to go to a junkyard and get replacement pieces. Once they are painted like you described it's next to impossible to get them to look right again.
I actually bought a set of taillights, kickpanel, rear taillight cover, upper deck cover, and the large plastic cover on the drivers side (that has the glovebox) out of an 87 Firebird last Wednesday for $42 for everything.....so that tells you how cheap it can be to just replace them. This was from our local pull-a-part yard.
