Ugly 1990-92 Steering Wheel Swap
So i have a 1990 firebird which has to have the ugly but safe steering wheel in it. i kind of like the three spoke Steering Wheels in the 87 firebird with the bird in the middle. if i swapped would it be a direct swap and what would i have to remove so the air bag doesn't slam me in the face when i try to take the steering wheel off?

Pick up a Chilton manual for your car. It has a step by step guide on how to disable the SIR system.

Re: Ugly 1990-92 Steering Wheel Swap
That is the exact swap I did in my 90 Formula.
I replaced the Fulgy airbag wheel with a 3-Spoke wheel out of an 87 Firebird parts car I had at the time. I used a toothpick, and testors model paint to fill in the bird.
It was a direct swap.

Disconnect the battery first, and you'll be fine. You'll need a steering wheel puller too, you can pick one up for $10 or so at Autozone.
